TV stars that are not top name brand but you think their performances are wonderful/admirable.
Mine are:
Yvonne Wilder: Archie Bunker's Place, Mama's Family, 227, Full House
Earl Boen: It's a Living, various shows.

I remember her on Full House. Why Jesse's folks disappeared I'll never know.

Laurie Metcalfe- Roseanne Although, I think she has won an Emmy.
Or are you talking about character actors? Yvonne Wilder was a hoot on that Mama's Family episode.

I dont think Fran Drescher gets near the credit she could - she's fantastic, nasal voice and all!
Also Megan Mullaly from Will and Grace (I might have misspelled her last name, too tired to check right now!). She is HILARIOUS!

Not character actors necessarily, just actors who are not so wel known but are really good actors/actresses.

Jerry Van Dyke was hilarious as Luther on Coach. I don't think he ever got the recogntion he deserved. He's a very funny and talented man.
I think Chris Elliot is great but hasn't been fortunate in finding fame. It's as if it wasn't meant to be or something.

I've always liked Tom Poston. He's never starred in his own sitcom (as far as I know), but he's turned in some great performances on a number of shows:
- as Dr. Bob Hartley's college friend, nicknamed "The Peeper", on "The Bob Newhart Show".
- as "Mr. Bickley", the landlord on "Mork and Mindy".
- as handyman George Utley on "Newhart"
- as various characters, giving "Tim the Tool Man Taylor" a hard time on "Home Improvement" (the same gimmick was used on "The Jack Benny Program" with veteran comic Frank Nelson).
