I really hate XP. My computer is so screwed up now and I've only had it what almost 1 & 1/2 months. I keep getting those stupid 'error report' thingies and now I can't send stuff from my outlook express account. Anyone else have trouble with XP? My computer hardly has anything on it and it runs so freakin' slow. I can't get the 'disk cleanup' thing to work anymore and is there a scan disk on this version of windows 'cause I really can't find one. Ugh, I'm just about to hurl this thing through the window and go back to my old one.

Sorry for the rant, but I really hate XP.

You are so odd, Chenny!

We love ya for it. ;)

As for Windows XP, I have it....I think...I don't know, I am so dumb when it comes to computers (a lot of people here will tell you that, I'm sure). But I think I have it. I don't get any error reports though...I'm sorry you're having trouble. :( Lots of times it helps just to rant! :) Maybe you should just go back to your old one if it isn't so much trouble....

Do you have an over-sized start button? lol... if you do, it's XP. ;)

Well, see I had Windows ME on the old one and thats just as bad as XP. Man, what happened to the good old days when I had Windows 95. I wonder if I could take off this piece of sh*t XP and install 95 or 98. But this is a store bought computer, I don't think I can do it. This computer came with XP pre-install. What crap I'm never getting one like this again. :p

Yes, the screen that shows all the accounts says WindowsXP. Therefore this must be XP. ;) But my start button looks normal to me.

XP does require a lotta memory, probably why your comp is slow...

Yep, thats what I don't understand. And I've already checked for viruses, there are none.

This is what I'm using and how much I have left, etc.

Used: 6.96 GB
Free: 27.8 GB
Capacity: 34.8 GB

Hmm. I was thinking about getting XP too. I'll have to ask around a little more and see if anyone else is having problems with it, otherwise, I sure as hell ain't spending $100 bucks on something that doesn't work worth a damn, lol.

But once I got used to it, I think it works better than the other programs. But thats just my opinion. I hope you get everything worked out on your PC. :)

They all have their flaws but at least on my computer XP doesn't freeze up like 95/98. A vast improvement! The only complaint I have is that it would not accept my printer and scanner. Not XP compatible.

But all in all I like it!:)

I always do disk cleanup, but now when I try to do it, it just sits there and freezes.
I have no idea how much memory I have on this computer. I looked at the box and it said 256MB DDR something Memory. Hey, I didn't pick it out - my dad did. Oh well, if this computer blows then I'll just go back to my old one that is also screwed up (has windows me). The cd-writer doesn't work anymore because of a flaw with windows, but at least I still can capture videos and pics off of my tv with it. I miss capturing pics of Liz anyway.

Yes there is a scandisk for Windows XP Go into My Computer click local disk so it is highlighted and then click file then find and click properties go to tools under error checking click the check now button click both of the boxes and click the button that says start u should get a message that asks u if u want to schedule this disk check next time u restart your computer click yes then close all programs and restart your computer

I had problems last weekend with my taskbar being missing and all I could do to fix it was either a system restore or a scandisk even doing that it was only fine for a few days and then started acting up again. I bought a book last week "Windows XP Home Edition: The Missing Manual-The Book that should have been in the box" by David Pogue it helped a lot but I do still have problems

Hope this helps

I found it a few days after I posted that. :D But I miss the old kind of scan disk where it would just pop-up on your screen and do it right then and there. :sigh: I miss those old days. I still have occasional problems with it suddenly becoming slow and that stupid 'not responding' crap, but other than that its ok again. I had to work a little of the old black magic. ;) That seemed to help. Anyway, I haven't even bothered trying to delete temporary files by going to 'disk cleanup' why bother myself with that. I can just delete all my temp files for internet explorer by going to Tools>>internet options. Thanks, for everyone's help.

Hmm..I doubt that the software I'm trying to get to work with my video capturing device it comes up with the installer and says 'works only with Windows 95' then you click ok ('cause thats all you can do) and then the installer shuts itself off. But I've gotten that program to work on Win 95/98/ME, but it won't work on XP at all. Meaning I can't even get it to install the program. It would be fine if you could just upgrade the software, but it's from back when Windows 95 came out. There's a new version of the capturing device it came and newer software for XP, but I don't have $80-90 to go out and get another one. I'm a poor person..:( I've even looked on WinMX and Kazaa for the newer software and no one has it so as far as fixing XP for all kinds of software I doubt it so basically I'm just screwed.

What does a 'guestbook' have to do with XP. I can see Internet Explorer, but a guestbook has nothing to do with XP. Whatever you're talking about is probably a script error in the guestbook that someone made while creating the guestbook. That has nothing to do with XP.
