LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - "Scrubs" creator Bill Lawrence will make his directorial debut for the sophomore series' season finale in May. The executive producer and writer will also appear on-camera in the upcoming episode "My Inspiration" as a back-up dancer for Fred "Re-Run" Berry.
In addition, Ryan Reynolds ("Two Guys and a Girl") will make his first TV appearance in three years on the finale as Spence, a former frat brother of J.D. (Zach Braff) and Turk's (Donald Faison) who is now living large as an investment banker, leading the residents to reevaluate their own callings to the medical profession.
Lawrence, who was a staff writer for "Friends" during its first season, created ABC's "Spin City" along with Gary David Goldberg ("Family Ties") at the age of 26. Last year he received a WGA Award nomination for his work on "Scrubs" and became a first-time father this year with wife Christa Miller, who plays the recurring role of Dr. Cox's (John C. McGinley) sarcastic ex-wife Jordan on the NBC comedy.
Jordan will also stir things up on the finale, when Dr. Cox learns his true relation to her baby.
"Scrubs" airs Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
