Wasn't it 'The Who' or something that made 'Tommy'- I'm not really a fan of them. Anyway, Joey's_Girl, apart from Grease (it's good) you have the same favourite musical songs as me. Shock Treatment is da bomb! My other fave shocky song is 'Look what i did to my id'.

Music of the Night & Think of Me from "Phantom" which we just saw a few weeks ago in New York.
Til there was you from The Music Man.
I guess Jesus Christ Superstar counts since some people posted Tommy and they're both rock operas.
JCS-pretty much the whole thing, but especially Heaven on their Minds, Damned for all Time, Blood Money, Gethsemane, Judas' Death, & Trial Before Pilate. So, like I said, pretty much the whole thing!!

Oh, OK, well, the reason I asked was because we went into Manhattan with no tickets, because I was just going to go the the TKTS booth in Times Square. The booth was closed when we went there, so we went to the Welcome Center across the street, and the guy at the information booth gave us a coupon for 1/2 off tickets. So we ended up getting our tickets for $30 each. Sure, we were in the upper seats but I didn't care. We could still see fine. We could've gotten the $20 tickets, but I didn't want to sit that far back!!
Have a great time at your show!!
One last thing, we were in Manhattan all of 5 minutes and we met Jimmy Smits. He's doing a show called "Anna of the Tropics", or something like that, and the theater was right near our hotel. He was coming out of the theater after his performance. I was wondering if we were going to see anybody famous while we were in New York. I guess that's like a normal occurence in Manhattan.

My absolute favorite musical song ever would have to be "El Tango De Roxane" from Moulin Rouge... any song that makes me cry everytime I hear it is Oscar worthy. Hmm then I should add "Come What May" on there...

What is Jesus Christ Superstar actually about? Also- in the UK on December 26th the '100 Greatest Musicals' show is being broadcast at 9pm (UK Time), the second part is on the 27th- on Channel 4. BBC America or whatever it's called might broadcast it.

I just recently bought 'Gypsy' (Bette Midler's version) and the songs on it are great! "Some People" "Small World" "Never get away from Me" "Everything's Coming Up Roses" "You gotta get a gimmick" and of course "Rose's Turn" are all brilliant songs. Didn't care for "If Mama was married" "Little Lamb" and the song Tulsa sings, but every other song was great.
I'd seen Gypsy a few years ago, but hadn't been into musicals as much then- I couldn't remember much of it so bought the video. I've seen most of Rosalind Russell's Gypsy- but it's been so long from I saw it, I'm gonna get it on video to watch too. But Bette Midler is great in Gypsy!
Also, 'Le Jazz Hot' from Victor/Victoria is great!

It isn't from a musical but I like Elton John's rendition of "Pinball Wizard" from Tommy.
If we're talking purely musicals and not rock operas mine is "You Can't Win" from The Wiz.
No contest at all, it's "Science Fiction Double Feature" from Rocky Horror. My favorite song of all time.

NONE???
If I could find one in Heidelberg, Germany... there's gotta be some. I know there's gotta be some in London, but that's probably a bit of a hike for ya. Check around college campuses, that's usually where they're still putting on good shows. If you can't find any, well, you'll just have to start up your own. :D

I live in Ireland actually. There used to be one in Belfast until recently- and some other one called Lip Service yused to run full time, then ocasionally, now it never does (it stopped just as I was getting into rocky horror!). Patricia Quinn performed with them once on Halloween!
I love the whole Floorshow bit in rocky horror! I haven't watched it in a while- I'm gonna watch it and Shock Treatment (another fantastic movie- that needs a DVD release!) back2back.

The UK isn't that far away - hey, I made it from London to Dublin in less than five hours. But I can see your point. Stinks that they stopped the one in Belfast - isn't that where Pat Quinn's originally from? I love Shock Treatment too, but I'm not holding my breath for that one to come out on DVD. The fact that even Ritz isn't standing up for it isn't in its favor. :(

Yeah, Pat's originally from Belfast. I've sort of learned not to get my hopes up about a DVD of Shock Treatment anytime soon- I'd even like a barebones DVD just to have the film preserved and available on that format- if they can release Mortal Kombat and The Legend of the Mummy 2 on DVD amongst other things, why not Shocky?
Maybe if it had more of a notorious sort of cult about it (like Xandau? it got a dvd release- nowhere near as good as shock treatment) or more people, Fox would pay attention. I love the rocky horror dvd special features- it's the only DVD commentary I've ever watched start to finish on a movie because it's so funny and interesting.

Hehe, I've got the CD and the DVD. It's a very strange show, but really unmissable. Bernadette and Mandy Patinkin were fantastic. The music's strange - I didn't think I liked it at all when I first heard it, then a couple of days later I was humming it and had to get the CD ;) Love that show.
