You're so right, Jack. Ward and June get stiffer and stiffer the longer the series goes on. (And Jerry Mathers gets uglier and uglier.)
Last night ep is a classic example. Ward and June pratically have heart attacks after they find out that Wally may be going away to a friend's cabin WITHOUT PARENTAL SUPERVISION!!

I know this is the early-60s -- generally speaking a much more civilized time than now -- but still, the school-marmish tone of late LITB is hard to take.
