"Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore"

Does anybody remember the movie "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore"? This was the film that started the "Alice" TV series.
This film starred Ellen Burstyn as Alice Hyatt, who was a singer then a waitress at Mel and Ruby's Cafe (Mel's Diner on TV series).

I've never seen the movie but I do know that Ellen Burstyn won an Oscar but she wasn't at the awards show, so Martin Scorcese accepted it on her behalf.
