At 3:30 in the morning on the 19th, TVLand will show an episode of "The Adventures of Superman" in which Hugh Beaumont plays an ex-con trying to go straight. It's an episode called, "The Big Squeeze."

Yeah. I read somewhere how before he got the role of Ward Cleaver, Hugh Beaumont was always the "bad guy" in shows and movies. Kinda weird that an ordained minister always played bad guy parts. ;)

A lot of people who went on to sitcoms started out in other types of roles in the movies. Fred MacMurray, for instance in Double Jeopardy (a great movie) and Donna Reed played a woman of the world in From Here to Eternity. Lucille Ball was a beautiful glamour girl in the 40's. I mean she was pretty in I Love Lucy, but she was a really Betty Grable type in the movies.

I just bought a video on ebay where Hugh Beaumont plays a killer. I haven't gotten it yet, but I'll let you know how it goes.:)

Cool...I've always wondered about that episode...

Years ago, I bought a book called "Total Television", which contains cast lists and synopsis' of just about every TV show ever made...and in the entry for the Adventures of Superman, it mentions that "although no major guest stars" appeared on Superman, several struggling young performers appeared on the series..."...and it specifically mentions Hugh Beaumont by name... I may have seen the episode as a kid, and not made the connection, but I don't remember seeing Hugh Beaumont in a Superman episode...hope I remember to tape it...it's on in 3 hours...
