I live in the country (the sticks if you will) and i've lived this way all my life. I've never lived in a town. I always thought it would be cool to live in a town similiar to Mayfield. I had to drive my 4-Wheeler or have my mom drive me to town to hang with my friends when i was smaller. I remember thinking how cool it must have been (back then) to live in town. I'm refering to he 80's but does anyone have any stories of how great it was living in towns in the 50's?

I was too small in the 50s to remember much now, but I did grow up in a nice suburb, Scarsdale, NY, in Westchester county, and it was certainly a nice experience. LITB finished its run in 1963, and I do remember that the world I lived in during the early 60s was simpler and more innocent, and much like the world shown in LITB.

I wish I did. I don't think there is a town like that anywhere in America.

I was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina and grew up there in the 1960's. It was very much a Mayfield at that time. Today, my home in Natchez, Mississippi is much like Mayfield. We can walk downtown to shop, and living is very easy and simple.

I live in a suburb of Cleveland, and it does remind me of Mayfield. Actually, if I was younger, I'd be in the Mayfield school system. There are many suburbs around here that remind me of Mayfield, some even have the old-fashioned store fronts.

I live in a suburb of Milwaukee and there's definitely no towns like Mayfield around here! Although, north of here there's some towns that remind me a lot of Mayfield (Oosburg and Cedarburg to be specific) The downtowns look just like a Mayfield and even have a diner or soda fountain type shot. In Oostburg it's almost scary because the people even ACT like Mayfielders! One time when I was there ( I believe it was after my family and I watched the 4th of July fireworks. We were walking on the sidewalk back to the car and this little girl about 7 years old walks in front of me or more on the side and then she says to me "Sorry, for walking in front of you!" :D I'm just thinking "Um, OK!" OK, people in the city NEVER do that and this is coming from a 7 year old girl (I'm just guessing her age). It's nice that she has manners, but all she did was walk on the side of me. It just couldn't help but laugh!! It was really cute though. Her mom must be a re-incarnation of June Cleaver!;)
