The "Lizzie McGuire" soundtrack which is led by Hilary Duff's hit single, "I Can't Wait," was certified GOLD this week.
This means that the soundtrack has sold more than 500,000 copies! Sooner or later it will be platinum!
Congratulations to Hilary Duff, and the other musical artists included in the soundtrack.

...I'm a bit skeptical, frankly. Over at the Lizzie guide at TV Tome (tvtome.com), people have been regularly following the path of the soundtrack album on Billboard's charts. It's sold well, and its sales have probably surprised a lot of people. But even though it's been on the charts for twenty-something weeks, it's never risen higher than about #60. And the last time I looked at a Billboard it was NOT yet confirmed as a gold album.

Can you please stop mentioning your TV Tome site every time you post?
And, I am sure it was certififed "gold." I've seen it on the Billboard charts.

Well, you may be right, but the last Billboard I saw (this was just after I'd gotten off the TV Tome (tvtome.com) website) didn't indicate it was a gold record.
BTW, it's not actually my TV Tome (tvtome.com) website. Someone else owns and runs it; I'm just the editor for the Lizzie McGuire guide at TV Tome (tvtome.com).
Gotta go and get back to TV Tome (tvtome.com)!
(Childish, yes, but what the heck!)

Billboard does have it marked as a gold album.
Man, I haven't followed the charts closely for a while, but obviously having a gold album doesn't mean what it used to! The Lizzie sountrack peaked at #61! Sure it's been on the charts for about 30 weeks, a respectably long period, but in the past this wouldn't have ever qualified as gold, I don't think.
Actually, the criteria for a gold album is 500,000 copies shipped. Maybe that doesn't mean sold, necessarily? In any case, even though I love Lizzie and want the soundtrack to do good, a gold record in this case doesn't impress me that much. (BTW, on the Billboard top 200 CD's chart, it looked like 80 or 90% of the records in the top 100 were gold, platinum or multi-platinum!)

Sorry for being a bummer, but I have to share my thoughts.
I like this show. I like Hilary Duff. I like Hilary Duff on this show. I HATE Hilary Duff holding a microphone. Who told this girl she could sing? She's worse than Britney Spears.
And before one of you label me as a "hater", please reread what I wrote. I like Hilary Duff, I'm just being fair though. Some people think that everything someone they like does is fantastic and they fail to see the flaws in it.

I agree with you, but I'm still happy for her musical success.

Hilary is a nice girl who deserves all the good things that happen to her.
You know what I think they should do? Get her better material. There are a lot of singers out there who have unique voices (Dixie Chicks, Shakira, Stevie Nicks) and they are still given respect just for having good material. Maybe if she had better songs, people would take her seriously.
