I believe that had to have been a cliffhanger ep, maybe it was, maybe it isn't, what does everyone else think?

Not really. We know where it ended up. They didn't spend Christmas together. They may(possibly) be closer to getting together, but I still wouldn't expect it to happen before the end of the season.

I think because his feelings are deeper than they usually are, Becker is even more afraid of getting hurt or hurting another than he usually is.

Yea your probably right, maybe they'll end up together next season(if their is one) Becker now finally releasizes that its hard to be a new person in town, to be jerked around, and to spend christmas alone, not mentioning getting all wet after your cabdriver splashed you, I think Becker sort of learned a lesson from all that, and he now knows not to hurt Chris anymore.
