"My Lucky Day "
A pair of diagnoses---one accurate, the other not---propel this episode.
In one storyline, J.D. (Zach Braff) glows over his correct call regarding a very rare disease. That glee irks Cox (John C. McGinley), who engages him in a battle for medical bragging rights that hinges on each doctor separately treating two new patients with identical, complicated symptoms. A parallel plot finds a remorseful Elliot (Sarah Chalke) being sued by an obnoxious, fully recovering patient (Alan Ruck) who was originally told by her that he had just a short time to live. John Ritter plays J.D.'s father, and David Copperfield appears as himself.
