 Yeah, I noticed that...
But yup, I went opening night. A show every half hour and they were all sold out. I liked it. It was funny, but I prefer the books over the movies. But I'll still probably get it on DVD.

I saw it last night and thought it was really good. I still think the books are better but the Harry Potter movies follow the book a lot better than most movies that are based on books.
Was it just me or did the characters look a lot more grown up? Of course they are older but it was really obvious to me.

Ya.... you could also tell that Ron and Harry's voices got deeper.
LOL was it just me, or was Mrs. Weasley hillarious? She cracked me up...

I loved Mrs. Weasley! Everything she said made me laugh. Especially when she sent the Howler to Ron and at the end she said, "Oh and Ginny, your father and I are so proud of you..."

I got this e-mail from one of these STOOPID conservative organizations that says we should send a message to all the Harry Potter fans that says "Holy Power"--YES, ANOTHER LAME ATTEMPT OF FUNDAMENTALISTS TO CASH IN ON POP CULTURE!!!! and and "warn people that God is mad at people for writing fantasy stories about magic and sorcery"....It's just a fun book, it's supposed to be a fun movie, and I don't know any kid who hadn't pretended or wanted to have magical powers. I wanna go see that movie--I haven't even read the books yet. I would LOVE to be a prolific author like J.K. Rowling.

I find that absolutely hilarious. It is just a book and just a movie. If you nit pick enough, you'll find something wrong with everything in this world. Like you said Blair, it's just a fun book and a fun movie. What about Bewitched? Did they think Liz Montgomery was a real life witch? It's silly. That's just my opinion.

You wanna know what's REALLY funny? Someone told me about 20 years ago, Christian entertainer Mike Warnke, whose claim to fame was allegedy being a high priest of a Satanic cult, said that he actually got spells just by WATCHING "BEWITCHED"!!!!  Of all things!!!! Btw, Mike Warnke doesn't have much of a career in Christian entertainment. They found that he made up the whole story of being a Satanic high priest.
I basically think some people are really just jealous that Harry Potter is more popular than stuff at Christian bookstores, that's their only reason for complaining.

I agree, it was a bit scary for a younger audience, I saw it on Friday to see it, and it wasn't what I expected, I'll leave it to the book to decide, but I've noticed there wasn't very many parts I remember from the book, vs. the movie. I thought it was more exciting then the first movie, though.

How can you say it's too long, AND they left a lot out? If you want it to be shorter, they would leave even more out. And it you want it to be more accurate, it would be longer..
I saw it last night, and it was PACKED. We reserved tickets on Sunday, though. We were about 20th in line to get in, but they had 4 BIG theaters running it (we went to a HUGE theater, they only have 2 floors, with 5 theaters on each, plus a HUGE theater on 3rd floor...and the HUGE theater and a whole floor was all Harry Potter...it was crazy, and there were all these police...)
I thought it was a pretty good length, but THEY CUT OUT PERCY'S GIRLFRIEND!! I was pretty mad about that. They MENTION her, but I th ought it was hilarious with him like sneakin' around and stuff... I thought it was pretty good, but the spiders looked fake to me. It was scarier than the last one, but you shouldn't have a problem unless you are 5 or you have a huge fear of spiders/snakes.

You are right. They just want attention. Harry is so popular now and for someone to complain about it, you kind of get a free ride with HP.

The link below "diSpells" the myths saying "Bewitched promotes Satanism!!!" and other stupid ideas, but it works for defending Harry Potter, too  :

I've gone twice :D That shows how much I loved it. Last night was incredibly fun, opening nights always are. I went with my mom and Shannon, Shannon wa INCREDIBLY scared of the spiders and snake.... I was sitting there going "Awesome" while my mom was going "Eeew" @ the spiders. There was this guy next to us who kept yelling "HOLY SH!T" and when Dobby knocked Malfoy's father back, he yelled "Woah, that's one friggin powerful elf!!!". And he flicked off Tom Riddle  Anyways, anyone other than me think any of these things:
- Mr. Malfoy kinda took Snape's place as resident slimeball
- Lockhart wasn't nearly as good looking as the book made him out to be
- Moaning Myrtle was HYSTERICALLY funny
- Snape got FAT. When he put down the Daily Prophet, I SCREAMED "HE GOT FAT!!!!!!! OMG HE LOOKS LIKE A FAT WOMAN!!!"

I agree with all of your points.
I thought the same thing about Mr. Malfoy which I didn't like that much since I like Snape and his evilness. I was expecting Lockhart to look a lot better, from the movie I don't understand what all the girls saw in him; Moaning Myrtle cracked me up, and Snape did get a little heavier. I wouldn't say he was fat but he didn't have that drawn look to his face like he did in the first one.

Well, that's how I thought I would feel when I saw the First Look on HBO. But... I grew used to it :D [Jackie... pssssssssht]
I saw it. It was good but I think I liked the first one better. Maybe because that one was longer. I thought that this one seemed sort of rushed. I was watching it and thinking "Hey skiped this or that", or "That's not what happened". I know that they used a stand-in for Dumbledore for some scenes, but I couldn't really tell where could anyone else? I was upset that there wasn't more Hagrid he's my favorite. All in all though I really like it. I can't wait for that next book to come out.

Also.... did anyone notice that while Harry and Ron were Crabbe and Goyle and Malfoy was telling them the tale of the chamber of secrets, Daniel Radcliffe [kid who plays Harry, if you didn't know] walks by in the background. I was in hysterics when I saw it.

The one thing I wish they would have done in the movie was show more of the Weasleys house. It's so cool how it is described in the book.
