This week JAG beat 8SR in the 8 p.m. half hour, but 8SR still carried ABC. 8SR was #1 for viewers 18-49 at 8 p.m.

-Yesterday's Winners:
JAG (CBS), 8 Simple Rules (ABC), Gilmore Girls (WB), Frasier (NBC), The Guardian (CBS), Smallville (WB), Judging Amy (CBS), NYPD Blue (ABC)

-Yesterday's Losers:
In-Laws (NBC), Just Shoot Me (NBC), Haunted (UPN), Hidden Hills (NBC)

-Ratings Breakdown:
With a first-place finish in five of the six half-hours, CBS's winning Tuesday combination of JAG (11.0/16), The Guardian (#1 overall: 9.8/14) and Judging Amy (10.6/16) kept the network on top with a 22 percent advantage over second-place ABC. Although 8 p.m. ABC anchor 8 Simple Rules dipped to a second-place 9.4/14, that's still a considerable 36 percent above Dharma & Greg in the year-ago time period (6.9/10 on Oct. 16, 2001). Also positive for the alphabet net remains improved 8:30 p.m. occupant According to Jim (#2: 8.8/13) and 10 p.m. stalwart NYPD Blue (#2: 10.0/15).

Zap2it shows Nielsen's, this is for total households. USA Today and every other source goes by total households.

Which one do the networks look at?

They look at both, households is important because they need to know how many TV's were on, and Nielsen is important for total viewers. But lately, the most important stat is the demo of ages 18-49.

It looks like ABC jumped the gun on Life with Bonnie and Less Than Perfect. Last night's ratings were not that good and 24 hasn't premiered yet. I smell trouble.
