Doesnt seem for real

ive seen a few episodes and its a pretty good show, but i have one major issue that really bugs me and thats the boy (im not sure what his name is on the show) but hes always spying on the girls and i believe that wouldnt happen in real life. this guy is like 13-14...hes more into girls and sports and music.... not worrying about a shopping cart and making his sister lives hell. It just bugs me about how the character was written. The character could play a really great part on the show, but it basically just wasted away as an extra laugh and annoyance. i really hope if theres a next season, that as he gets old, he becomes more of a character.

Yea I sort of find his character useless at times too. I mean I don't think he'd always hide in the closet, and spy on his sisters. I think he needs some storylines about him though instead of just those jokes like "Do you think I'm pretty?" and "Lindsay wants me to be a cheerleader".

I know, I think he dosen't fit into the show, he dosen't have many lines either, he does spend a lot of time alone, I think he needs to be more involved into some of plotlines.

The brother is the 2nd or 3rd strongest character in 8SR. Kate is the strongest character, because she resembles the normal, typical mother. She's a bit agressive and strict, but still has a great heart. Her and the boy are great. The others are where is falls under "Doesn't seem for real". John Ritter's portrayal of Paul is good...but he doesn't play Paul as it should've been played. Paul should be like Kate, but not as strict...and a bit more easygoing. Here, he's afraid to tell his daughters something, and doesn't take enough control of the daughters. John is fine, but his interpretation of the character just isn't right. Amy Davidson plays Kerry greatly. A whiny, bitchy girl who just needs someone to talk with her, and make her feel better. However, Kaley Cucuo's portayal of Bridgette leaves much to be desired. She doesn't let out the heart that should come out, and is a total ditz. If this character were older, I'd understand, but a girl that smart talks to her father, and doesn't obey him is just unrealistic. The show is kinda like a modern version of The Brady Bunch. It's corny as heck, but still has moments that are simply hilarious and delightful. More character development for Paul and Bridgette is needed, and possibly better plotlines could bring the show to where it should be. 8SR has such promise which shouldn't be wasted. However, a small do-over, and a few minor touches couldn't hurt the show either...

Maybe his character doesn't have a life and no friends which is why he pays so much attention to what his sisters are doing.

If I had the opportunity to overhaul the show, I'd do this:

Create a best friend for Roary, that would say off color things and chase after Brigette.

Tone down Paul a great deal, and not have him in every scene like they do now.

Create a male bashing best friend for Kate, and give Kate more funny lines, because she has just as much comic timing as John Ritter does.

I'd keep Kerry as she is.

And okay....have a John Ritter sitcom with almost no physical comedy??? That makes no sense what so ever.

DEFINITELY create a lot more physical comedy scenes for Paul.

I agree with you 100%...even though he's a bit old to be tripping and falling over stuff

the brother I don't think is suppose to a typical 13 year old. I think they wrote him a strange child.

Too much character development would give the character stiff lines and actions, the audience should form their opinion and own ways of looking at the character! For Rory, I've noticed that he only pops up here and there! But that's OK! His lines are short and he has only 1 or 2, but they're funny!

I'm sure the Rory character will start to evolve as the show goes on, but personally I think he's hilarious just the way he is. I think aside from the dad and the oldest daughter he's my favorite character. I can definitely see the shows writers writing some very good material for him in the future though. A boy goes through alot from the ages 13 to 20 so I think the writers will definitely have some great stories revolving around him soon.
