TV GUIDE this week has a story on the new film on Bob Crane (Hogan's Heroes) called "Auto Focus" with Greg Kinnear as Crane. It is directed by Paul Schrader and sounds like it may be interesting. The subject is certainly interesting. A man who presented such a sunny image to the world; a family man; a card carrying conservative republican; a church-goer; regualar guy type led a secret (or not so secret life for those who really knew him) life of being addicted to pornography and filming sexually explicit home movies.

Apparently the film will include recreations of "Hogan's Heroes" scenes (I wonder who will play Klink and Newkirk?) and will cover his life up to and including his murder in 1978 when Crane was only 49.

The film will be released in New York and Los Angeles in mid October and go into wide release on November 1.
