Has anybody else seen any of the new american express ads with Jerry Seinfeld.

I have, and they're hysterical. When he goes overboard the ship, I bust a gut laughing.
The funniest one was from a few years ago, when he's touring another country. I forget the details, but it was a killer.

I kinda feel like I lose a little more respect for him each time one of the ads airs.

I'm curious as to why you would lose respect for an actor for making commercials?
He's certainly not doing it for the money although I'm sure made some serious money. I think he does it to stay in the public eye and make us laugh because they are funny spots.

Hmmm, I must have typed that in an invisible font...I have no issue with actors doing commercials. Seinfeld (our topic), of course, does not need the money. My issue is with the fact that he keeps himself so far out of the public eye with regard to his actual comedy - he turns down offers to perform constantly. He has vowed to no longer perform his stand up act at all (the HBO special after Seinfeld went off the air was it) and has vowed to never do a show again. In other words, the only chance we get to see Seinfeld are in over produced commercials with lowest common denominator "humor".

PS. He received an absolute FORTUNE for his deal with Amex., not that there's anything wrong with that ;)

Invisible font? That's unnecessarily sarcastic. I politely asked a question. Read my post again. I didn't say you had a problem with ACTORS doing commercials, I said ACTOR (Seinfeld, our topic).
You are also mistaken. Jerry Seinfeld does tour doing standup. I saw him at the Wang Center here in Boston last year. If you're interested in seeing him perform live, here's a link to his tour dates.

PS. He also has a movie coming out soon.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I actually meant the post to be funny. Seinfeld has dated an 18 year old, married a woman that left her husband right after their honeymoon for Seinfeld, had a baby, toured, put a comedy album out (with DVD), and now has written a children's book. Hardly low profile. Executives from American Express also have a hand in the new movie. I like Seinfeld and I love his comedy...I just happen to think that the commercials are terrible and an embarrassment and are clearly money motivated.
Sorry again and thanks for the ticket information...I'll check him out when he performs at MSG.
