Eddie Van Halen
Eric Clapton

Hmm..

As far as technical wizardry, Eddie Van Halen is amazing, but for overall musicianship (if that's a word) I would have to go with Clapton.

Rhandy Rhoads would have been. he was like 23 and a huge rock Icon i mean... if he were still alive with 20 more years of guitaring under his belt hed be so great. makes me sad that he died before i had a chance to be alive while he was. I LOVE U RANDY!

I think Jimi Hendrix is among the greatest. He was the first guy to string a guitar so that a lefty can play it. That shows that being a southpaw results in being weird, which results in creativity.:D

Robert Johnson (King of the Delta Blues)
- He paved the way. Everyone was influenced by him. (Rolling Stones, Zepplin, Clapton, etc.) And boy did he use that slide guitar..........he certainly had amazing skills. He was awesome.

Slash, by his own admittance, idolized and patternized himself after his hero, the great Joe Perry. ;)

Joe of course gets my vote, as does Brad Whitford.

Others include but are not limited to Eddie Van Halen, Hendrix, Clapton, and Santana.
