The show is very unrealistic. No Dad cares that much about his kids. And, do all kids in America act so stuck up like the two in this show?
Plus, how long can a show last when the premise is about being a parent of teen-agers.
And did anyone else notice that the "hot daughter" hasn't been shown on camera yet without making some weird face. How hot is she if she needs to hide behind unfunny faces?

Why do shows have to be realistic? There is no law or anything saying it has to be. And from the ratings for the premire it seems not everyone has to have their shows realistic.
And who cares how she looks? It's her acting that really counts.

Do you understand that you are watching a TV SHOW?! Of course it's going to be unrealistic at times! I'm not even going to begin to name off unrealistic shows that were/are immensely popular.

As long as it's funny and entertaining, people will watch it. There have been countless shows with the family premise. Who's The Boss lasted 8 great seasons, and it was about an adult taking care of children. It never got old, it stayed great in quality, and it is a classic show.

Let me tell you.......... It does have some truth in it.
If I had a daughter with a thong on I'd have a fit too.

A lot of parents really are strict about rules and things like that with there kids, The show isn't that realistic but its more believeable than all those goodygoody family shows.

jesus christ, Geekzilla, why are you complaining? There is no law that says all TV shows have to be realistic.

actually this show is one of the more realistic shows on tv. you said that no dad cares that much about there kids. and as much as i hate it my dad does he seriously interrogates anyone i bring home and is always around asking questions about my day.
even the teenage girls are pretty realistic. yeah the older one is a lil extreme of a ditzy teenager but there are some out there like that. the other one is pretty accurate as a common teenage girl in most cases.
though i do admit when i'm watching the show i'm not pulling it apart piece by piece to analyze it but i watch it for the .

I like the show, just as it is, I wouldn't want to change it, I think its fine, just as un-real-istic as it is. It doesn't matter if its unreal or real, what counts is how well they deliver the plot lines and acting.

To me the oldest daughter is the only one who is stuck up. Her character really bothers me-she hasno respect at all

No dad cares that much about his kids? Obviously you've never had a good-looking teenage daughter with a bunch of boys hound-doggin' her all the time!
I don't really care much for the show, but the premise is definitely NOT unrealistic, in my opinion!

8SR isn't that unrealistic. It's more realistic! It's just about a concerned father wanting his daughters not to go on dates and does not want guys to come in his house. That is normal. Now c'mon and look at Full House! Now that's what I call unrealistic here!

Although it's more realistic than let's say Full House, it is quite unrealistic also. It almost seems as though Paul and Kate aren't married...they share almost no imtimate moments, and have basically never kissed in the series' run so far. The kids don't look anything like eachother, nor their parents, and I don't think that mothers are that strict to their children, not their fathers....AND Paul seems more like an uncle to the children, and doesn't let out any emotions while talking one-to-one with the children.

Again watch something before you say something, because they did have an intimate moment last night. Sitcoms are not suppose to be all realistic, that's why they work.

Again, I don't want to defend a show that I think isn't very good, but it can hardly be singled out as being unrealistic because the kids don't look like their parents! You'd have to search very, very long and hard to find any sitcom since the beginning of TV where the family members looked like they belonged to the same family!
