I'm willing to bet that at least half of these songs that soon hit the radio were shamelessly intercut by various news sound bytes. Also note that I'm not necessarily going to bring up songs that were speficially created in light of 9/11 like "Freedom" by Paul McCartney or "The Rising" by Bruce Springstien for example:
*"Imagine" by John Lennon

*"New York State of Mind" by Billy Joel

*"Hero" by Mariah Carey

*"Hero" by Enique Iglasias

*"One Sweet Day" by Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men

*"Overcome" by Live

*"Walk On" by U2

*"I'll Stand By You" by The Pretenders

*"I'll Be Missing You" by Puff Daddy & the Family

*"Fragile" by Sting

*"End of the Innocence" by Don Henley

*"God Bless America" obviously!!!

*Whitney Houston's rendition of the National Anthem at Super Bowl XXV

*"Alive" by POD

*"God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood

I have yet to hear that song on the radio station here in SD. I love it.
