Stepmothers in long running sitcoms:
Margaret "Clancy" Williams Make Room for Daddy or The Danny Thomas Show
Carol Brady The Brady Bunch
Barbara Douglas My Three Sons
Sandra Sue "Abby" Bradford Eight Is Enough
My personal favorite was Abby on Eight is Enough. The character was realistic. She came into that marriage to Tom Bradford with issues of her own dealing being a stepmother to eight children, balancing going to school, working part-time and caring for her new family and coming to terms with losing her first husband. She built friendships with the older Bradford children and not trying to be their "mother" except for Nicholas because he was eight at the time and needed more of a motherly type.
