The Cleaver home (2nd one) and the street they lived looked so real. Was the front of the home actually a facade with nothing behind it? I was always curious how much of the home physically existed.

I got to see the second Beaver home it is real, it's in universal studios, everything was empty in it but I did see the staircase. I hope this helps!

Oh by the way all the homes that are around it are all from television series the Munsters is pretty close, I believe in one episode you can spot the Munster's home.

I didn't mean facade as in illusion but facade as in "wall", you know how some set buildings have nothing behind them but thats very interesting you saw the actual house. I would love to buy a house that looks just like that one.

The Cleaver home at 211 Pine Street existed as an INTERIOR SET on a soundstage (the inside of the house), and as an EXTERIOR SET- an empty shell (or facade) on the Universal Studios backlot.
The facade was one of a dozen or so that made up the residential set street used in countless TV shows and movies since the 1940s when the street was built. Another famous house on this street was the Munster's house (used occasionally on Beaver).
The same EXTERIOR set was used for both the original series and the 80 New Leave it to Beaver. Many know that this same facade was used many times on other productions such as Marcus Welby MD, and the Disney movie The Shaggy Dog.
A little know fact is that this house facade was built for the 1955 Parmount Pictures Production "The Desperate Hours", starring Humphrey Bogart. In fact, the house was referred to 'the Paramount house' at Universal before it became the Cleaver's house later in the 50s.
The INTERIOR sets of the Cleaver house for the New Leave it to Beaver were reconstructed to match the original series.
The house seen in the 1997 Leave it to Beaver movie is an entirely different house built just for the movie, but it has similar exterior features to the original TV house.
More than you wanted to know?
