I know that hardly any of you actually listen to Ozzy's music, but for those of you that do, what is your favorite Ozzy album or song?
After much deliberation I would have to say that 'Ultimate Sin' is probably my favourite album. I couldn't choose one favourite song though so I narrowed it down to a short list -

Thank God For The Bomb
Shot In The Dark
Never Know Why
No Bone Movies
Perry Mason
Goodbye To Romance
See You On The Other Side
Mama I'm Coming Home
Mr Crowley
You're No Different
Ultimate Sin
Lightening Strikes
Centre of Eternity
Crazy Train
Secret Loser
Suicide Solution

Ok, maybe my list isn't that short!

<< I know that hardly any of you actually listen to Ozzy's music >>

I've been following OzzY since the very first Sabbath album! And IMO...his earlier stuff is the best!

"Ultimate Sin" is a great album.
My mother did not approve of that purchase.
His live "Tribute" album with Randy Rhodes is great too.

My favorite song, is a toss-up between "Bark At The Moon" and "No More tears."

I havent heard all but I cant find his old albums anywhere so I can lasten to them all! everywheres been sold otu forever. how annoying. I have been lukeing for ANYTHING with suicide solution on it and I cant find any... Obviously everyone else wants to hear it to. I wannahear it because I wanna understand why someone blamed that song for suicide... I cant understand how ANY SONG can be blamed for that but thats OT. Back on subject i like everything of his i've heard pretty much equally. I love his voice. It's kinda funny in a way. Ozzy is kewl. So Is kelly. they're all cool. cool.

'Suicide Solution' is on the 'Blizzard of Ozz' album. You should definately get hold of a copy cos many people reckon that's Ozzy greatest album.
Here are the lyrics to 'Suicide Solution' -

Wine is fine
But whiskey's quicker
suicide is slow with liquor
Take a bottle drain your sorrows
THEN IT FLOODS AWAY TOMMOROW!!

Evil thoughts and evil doings
Cold, alone you hang in ruins
Thought you'd escape the reaper
You can't escape the master keeper

'Cause you feel life's unreal and you're living a lie
Such a shame who's to blame and you're wondering why
Then you ask from your cask is there life after birth
What you saw can mean hell on this earth
hell on this earth!!

Now you live inside a bottle
The reaper's travelling at full throttle
It's catching you but you don't see
The reaper is you and the reaper is me

Breaking laws, knocking doors
But there's no one at home
Made your bed, rest your head
But you lie there and moan
Where to hide, suicide is the only way out
Don't you know what it's really about.

Personally, I believe that the notion that a song can urge someone to commit suicide is just plain stupid! The judge obviously thought so too because Ozzy was found not guilty.
The lawer for the prosecution also tried to maintain that Ozzy was putting hidden messages in his songs, urging his fans to commit crimes. He claimed that in 'Suicide Solution' Ozzy says "Get the gun. Shoot. Shoot. Shoot." This is absolute nonsense. There is one point in the song where Ozzy sings some gibberish and makes some daft noises and, I suppose, it does sound a little bit like he's saying "Shoot, shoot, shoot" but it's still obvious that he's not saying any actual words.
Anyway, pick up a copy of the song and you'll be able to hear for yourself :)

...but here's a case of a band adding lyrics, that most people NEVER caught.

In the song 'Come Together' by the Beatles...you will hear John Lennon exclaiming something that sounds fairly unintelligable at first.

It's the first 2 notes of every refrain...and if you turn the volume up and listen closely, you'll hear John singing "Shoot me"! This HAS been verified...and very prophetic if you ask me!

Also, the line that everyone thinks is "I buried Paul" at the fade-out of 'Strawberry Fields Forever'...is John once again muttering "Cranberry Sauce"!

Thats kindof amusing actually... Ya i heard about the "Get the Gun Shoot Shoot Shoot" thing... They also said the notes in the song make it impossible for a person to ignore what they are saying. besides in order to kill yourself you have to be in a pretty screwed emotional state to begin with... I mean a normal happy person wouldnt shoot themselves even if ozzy did say to... unless he was one very strange kid. Someone also said they killed someone because of the way the song bark at the moon makes them feel. I find it all really funny.

Dude... I talk alot...

God, I don't think I could pick a favorite album. I love too many of his songs and they're all from different albums. But I'd have to say my top favorite songs are No More Tears and See you On the Other Side. I've been following Ozzy since I first heard of him many years ago. I even go as him to Halloween parties every year! :guitar:

It was the crummy fall of 1976, I was in 8th grade, and I hated junior high. Everyone was a bunch of stuck up punks who picked on me. I found my strength in Black Sabbath and Ozzy. He told it like it was. The soundtrack to my life in 1976/77:

Paranoid: It reflected my fear of people, like I was going crazy. It was good to have a song that I could relate to.

Iron Man: Vengeance from the grave--YEAAHHH!!! That was what Iron Man was capable of, all right. The greatest song of all time. It was kind of a reversal of the fear of Paranoid, where you were a person TO BE FEARED.

After Forever: This was several years yet before I heard Christian music, but it was great to hear Ozzy and Co. sing a song of hope, that God would deal with the badness in this world.
Many people thought the song was bogus, but I think it was entirely consistent with Black Sabbath's moral message.

Lord of This World: This was a song that I directed to all the self-righteous "soshes" who thought they were so much better than anyone else--I later directed it at self-righteous "Christians" who
acted cold and cruel to people who were different.

Wicked World: This song really told it like it was, a world full of drudgery and pain. Great guitar solo.

Killing Yourself to Live: "Take a look around you, what do you see? Pain, suffering and misery. It's not the way that the world was meant, it's a pity you don't understand..." In that first part of the song, you can FEEL the pain in the guitars--before it kicks in with crazy tempo changes. "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" album was a very underrated album, but it's one of their best.

Am I Going Insane? (Radio): Not a heavy song, but I remember how I asked that question myself so many times those days.

Crazy Train: Not only was Randy Rhoads amazing on guitar, but the lyrics finally hit me in 1987--"Maybe it's not too late, to learn how to love, and forget how to hate." It was a revelation after so many years of dealing with the intolerance of churches over Ozzy's music.

Flying High Again: More insane guitar on here. Ozzy's DEFINITELY cookoo for Cocoa Puffs here.

Over the Mountain: See above.

Believer: "You've got to believe in yourself, or no one will believe in you." My theme song.

Rock & Roll Rebel: Ozzy's theme to 1984 (the book and the year).

Crazy Babies: A total trip.

"Paranoid" by Black Sabbath is probably his best original album. It contained Paranoid, Iron Man, War Pigs, Planet Caravan, Faeries Wear Boots.

"We Sold Our Souls For Rock n Roll" by Black Sabbath is a great collection. Sweet Leaf was another good song that wasn't on the "Paranoid" album.

Boy that is a tough question. Depending on whether your talking Black Sabbath or his solo career. I love it all mind you. If it is Black Sabbath I think It would be any of his live concert bootlegs and if you wanted to narrow it down to a couple songs right off the top of my head I would have to say NIB (for that wicked bass solo Geezer puts in at the beginning then riffing it through. the 2nd choice would be War pigs, then Sabbath bloody sabbath, Black sabbath. Now Solo career would have to be Believer. I am teaching myself how to play this on the bass. :-D Then some of the newer stuff. I probably have almost every bootleg out there of ozzy and black sabbath.. :-D

Once again, it gets really sad when Ozzy gets reduced to t.v. star than being a musical figure that was the mouth of metal at its earliest incarnation.

Ozzy was great, but his being co-opted by the public at large has made his music and persona lame at best. Of course the stuff he did with Randy Rhoads and some with Jake E. Lee will always rule.

"We Sold Our Souls For Rock n Roll" by Black Sabbath is a great collection. Sweet Leaf was another good song that wasn't on the "Paranoid" album.Black Sabbath's first six albums were classics:

Black Sabbath (1970)
Paranoid (1970)
Master Of Reality (1971)
Black Sabbath Vol. 4 (1972)
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1974)
Sabotage (1975)

Their next two albums were more slick, polished albums more akin to Boston than their previous sludgy, doomy sound: 1976's "Technical Ecstasy" and 1978's "Never Say Die". Ozzy was in such bad shape with his alcohol and drug abuse, and the latter album was so disappointing that it hastened his departure/firing from the band. The band toured that fall with Van Halen as the opening act, which blew away Sabbath each night. With Ozzy out of the picture, the band nearly thought about breaking up when they decided to take in Ronnie James Dio as their new vocalist and lyricist. Their first two with Dio were phenomenal, and had a distinctly different sound: 1980's
"Heaven And Hell" and "Mob Rules" from 1981. Dio has rejoined the band this year under the moniker Heaven And Hell, and are currently touring.
