What Was This Show?

I'm trying to remember the name of this show and it is driving me crazy!

The show was based around this guy and his german shepard who would ride around in the guy's jeep and help folks and solve crimes. One of the things I remember is the big deal they used to make of the guy's car phone. The thing was huge! Back then a car phone was an amazing thing...

Also, what was the name of the dog?

It sounds like Rin Tin Tin (whcih was the show's name and the dog's name) but I'm not 100% sure.

Then it couldn't have been Rin Tin Tin unless there was a remake that I never heard about! Rin Tin Tin was on in the 50's. I really have no clue as to what show you are referring to! Sorry! I am curious now! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/confused.gif
