I haven't seen an entire episode yet, but
what I have watched of the show does not
look at all funny. I was never an Ozzy fan
and think some of the things he's done
onstage are repulsive. Why is this show
so poplular and what could possibly be funny
about it? I heard this is MTV's highest rated show
ever....what do you think of it?

I haven't seen it, but based on what I've read I'll have to agree with Shocolah's statements. I do not believe a dysfunctional family deserves their place on television. I mean, I even find "The Simpsons" offensive.
I want more families like the Taylors (both on "Home Improvement" and "The Andy Griffith Show"), the Winslows ("Family Matters"), the Cleavers, the Nelsons ("The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet"), the Cosbys, and the Bradys!

I like it because its funny. The other night Sharon told Ozzy to be sure not to step in the pet's water dish and then a few minutes later he stepped in it and was cussing the bowl... LoL I was cracking up.

I don't think it is correct to call them a dysfunctional family. Yes, the're very different than most families but they have real love for each other and seem to care a great deal for each other. I don't think a tv family has to be bland to be 'functional'.
Don't get me wrong, i think 'father knows best' was some of the finest television ever. But to think of that awful "home improvement' family as functional even funny is something i don't understand. The comedy came from reinforcing old fashioned male-female sterio-types. That is a show I found offensive.
the osbournes shows us that there are all types of families out there and as long as you have love and respect for each other you are ok. please give this show a secound chance.

There's a GOOD reason I block out MTV and its sister station on my own television--and I'm a teenager! These repulsive and totally unfunny shows (I've seen nauseating snippets on ET before AFV--ABC syndicates ET in our area) and I've heard about them. They stink! Thank goodness for TV Land, Nick at Nite, ABC Family and the rest of stations dedicated to family-friendly entertainment and ban MTV and Comedy Central to be destroyed...

Probably voyerism. My mom threw my ozzy t shirt in the trash when i was little and carried on about al that satan worship BS, and she watches the show every single time its on and thinks hes so funny and so cute. She watches anything thats "real" life though, like the survivor, real world, stuff like that. If it werent for those home decorating shows on BBC she'd be watching that discovery channel thing with babies being born. A lot of people are totally in to that stuff. Im a huge Ozzy fan and i have recorded, yet watched very little of it. I feel like im spying <G>

And 'then came OZZY'!
I have always been a big fan of his music...but I think it's his vulnerability that attracts viewers, IMO.
It's the juxtaposition of this self proclaimed 'prince of darkness'...the 'heavy metal pioneer' that walks like an old man and looks like he 'hasn't a clue' when he's in his own home.
Love or hate him, he's giving MTV what they needed...a more diverse audience.
I doubt VERY MUCH, that what MTV did with Ozzy will NOT work with Gene Simmons from Kiss! From what I've seen of the promos...the 'magic' is just not there.
But all just MHO, ;)

I'm not an Ozzy fan either, but I watched my first episode yesterday and I thought it was hilarious. Very real too. Yeah, every other words is F***, but heck, they can't be the only family that talks like that! Besides, they have cool accents.

I love "the Osbournes!" It is so funny -- there is no other word to describe it! FUNNY! It's got a certain style of humor that if you don't get it, you won't find it funny. But if you do, boy it's a hoot! :happyface :happyface :happyface

I've been a huge Ozzy fan for over 15 years and I absolutley LOVE this show. Its funny because it shows how even though he's Ozzy Rock Star he's still a family man who has to answer to his fresh-mouthed kids and take out the garbage(I wont even get into the doo poop....). I think part of the formula that makes this show work is his family.....thats why I think the P. Diddy show coming out will flop. He's got no wife and kids to do battle with.whose he gonna talk to?His "yes men"??

Just have to throw in my vote for "eeeewww". I find it difficult to watch (and laugh at) a show when every other word is being "beeped" out.
I think this was a poor attempt for MTV to recapture the reality based TV sector. I would much rather see an Ozzy Osbourne behind the scenes deal from VH1.
I think it's one of those either you love it or hate it type shows.

If it was a 'poor attempt'...MTV wouldn't be celebrating it's success as their #1 rated show ever!
My only gripe is having to wait SO long to see a fresh episode!

'The Osbournes' had been airing in America for about 4 months before it reached UK shores and I have to say, I was a little disappointed with it.
So far, we are only up to episode 2 here (the one with the 'dog therapist'). The first ep. was ok but the second was boring. The show may very well get better but so far I would have to say that it is slightly overrated.
Don't get me wrong - I love Ozzy. But I love him cos of his music, not because, for some unknown reason, he decided to open up his home to the MTV cameras.
What really p#sses me off is these dumb kids who go on and on about how much they love 'The Osbournes' and run around wearing Ozzy t-shirts yet haven't listened to any of his music in their lives!!!!!
Ozzy may be a cool, funny guy but do yourselves a favour and pick up one of his albums. The you'll realise why he is a truly awesome guy!

Oh so true. I used to only like The Osbournes, too. But then I downloaded some songs. I only have four, but that's cuz all the others don't wanna download.
Crazy Train is by far the best. Then Bark At The Moon, Iron Man, and Dreamer.

Ozzy is awesome. Even Dr. Phil said even though the fighting and everything when they need to come together they do. I person Love watching Ozzy cuz he is my hero and has inspired me to play music. I am a die hard fan and always want o know what is going on whether it be a new cd out or a concert. I am sure with Ozzy is WYSIWYG (What you See is what you get)
