Can anyone confirm this is the reson why nick and other stations actually skip episodes, because it sounds like total -- you know (crud).
If Nick can air any eps of ALL IN THE FAMILY, i cant imagine they would skip eps of anything else for that reason. I know tv land has a thing on their site that explains some eps cost more than others, and some can only be shown a set number of times.

I don't think anyone can know for sure, but it seems like more than mere coincidence that for certain shows the only episodes they skip are the controversial ones.

Yeah...Like The Cosby Show for instance. N@N only started airing TCS a month ago and already they're at the end of the 3rd season.
I've always believed that stations only buy certain episodes to show. From a money standpoint, it would cost a station a lot of money to purchase all the episodes of a long runing show like say "Cheers," so they buy ones that are more popular thus attracting more viewers.
I also think they also stay away from the more controversial episodes, probably because the shows in syndication are shown eariler in the evening, perhaps during the day, so they can't be sure parents will be offering thier "parental discretion," particularly if the episode was deemed "controversial" when it aired first run.
