In my Humanities class, all we talk about is religion. It's kind of like History, because it talks about all the different time periods. If I were you, I would try to get out of the class. My Humanities class sucks, but the class you take next year may be something entirely different.

Its a 2 hour class. 1 hour english and 1 hour history and it's advanced so its not gonna be easy but history and english are like combined.. lik eif you read shakespear in english than you learn about that time period in history........

School is, to put it nicely, a crock of ****!!!! Incase you didn't know 50% is considered an F at most schools. So if you do half of your work, and do it well, you still get an F. School is not about brains, it's about who is the biggest kiss ass, who puts in the most effort! My IQ happens to be 182. I don't put up with any of the **** at school! I'm smart enough to realize that the system is messed up and if we don't do something about it, it will brainwash even more of the worlds youth!

I dont know what kind of school you go to but at my school to get good grades you have to have brains. You dont have to kiss ass at all. And yes if you do half of your work you will get an F at my school too. Who cares if you do it well you only did half of it! Thats like saying well I read half of this book but I dont see why I failed the test over it. It's a given. You arent gonna get anywhere in life just doing half of your work.

Another brainwashed soul you are Tootieismyfav, I almost feel sorry for you. The whole school thing is meaningless, why sit in a class room all day when we have the technological possibilities to learn so much more from our very own home? Why listen to a brain dead teacher when, with the click of a mouse, you can listen to the greatest brains of our time. It's all crap, and it's people like you that keep the system the way it is. Why do so many get so worked up over a letter..." I got an A"..."Oh ****, I got an F"...It's just a letter, it doesnt measure your intellectual possibilities. The dumbest person in the world could get staight A's if they kiss enough ass and put in enough effort. Whereas the opposite could happen to the smartest if they defy this ****ed up system...why do so many let this ****ing system control their lives? Cause you're all conformists, that's why!

That made absolutely no sense. If someone puts in a lot of effort into their work... enough to get them an A they're obviously smart. Putting in effort would also mean getting the answers right.. you cant be dumb and get all the answers right!

lol- School is handy. If we didn't have school, we would be walking around talking like a bunch of DA's. I do agree with the ass kissing part of the post. I had one girl in my Senior Lit class, never did any work- but still passed the class. Kind of ****ed me off, because I did all the work (at least I passed the class so I can't complain too much) But the girl sucked up to the teacher a lot, so ya know the rest is history.

Putting in effort doesn't necessarily always mean that someone's smart. Let's say that 2 people are given the same project to do, both due at the same time. The first person works on the project for 5 hours, the second, an hour. They both turn it in and get the exact same grade. So it seems that from what you're saying, the first person is smarter than the second because he/she put in more effort.

I'm talking about one person doing individual work. I'm saying you could not write a terrible paper and turn it in and automatically get an A because you spent a long time on it. You would get an A only if it was a good paper, and usually to get a good grade you have to put effort into something. To put effort into something means doing it right and trying hard. Effort doesnt just mean working on something for a long time.

Jenny, you misunderstood...learning is necessary, school is not. We go to this structure, this prision if you will, for 7 hours a day, now this is not necessary, we'll have enough of that when we get into the working world! As I said before, why listen to a braindead teacher when you have the technical ability to listen to some of the greatest minds of our time in your own homes, with just a click of a mouse. Learning we need, this structure, we call school, we don't!

because people care bout their future and they know that doing well in high school will help them get into a good college and hopefully do well in life...thats why grades are important and people stress over letters~i am not quite sure about the school system that you go to (or dont) but atleast in my classes with my teachers...it is based on your knowledge and how much effort, particapate and how much you know to get a good grade...no "ass kissing" was involved...for instance my teacher hates me and i was not doing well in his class but ive tried...and did the work...put in great effort....my teacher still hates me...but i still have an A

and since when does going to school makes us conformist? that makes no sense....i mean i go to school to learn...to further my education...to get into a good college...and "the system" doesnt control my life...i go to school by choice, well my parents choice...but i need it so yah

I never said they weren't doing individual work. Never once did you say before that "you could not write a terrible paper and turn it in and automatically get an A because you spent a long time on it." I was simply replying to what you had said which was, and I quote: "If someone puts in a lot of effort into their work... enough to get them an A they're obviously smart. Putting in effort would also mean getting the answers right.. you cant be dumb and get all the answers right!" Nowhere in that did you say anything about writing a good paper. If they get the same grade it obviously doesn't matter how much effort they put into it, it just means that the person that finished it quicker may be smarter than the person that worked for 4 additional hours and got the same result.

Haha... ok, ok, ok.

Jimmy Bob is making sense, at least to me, anyway. I totally agree with him: School is like a prison full of ass kissers. The best lessons aren't learned through homework and tests and teachers; they're learned from experience. Life is the best teacher.

There are a couple of things that I hate about school. First, there's the people. My school is full of these arrogant, immature, ignorant kids who strut through the halls with their noses stuck in the air thinking they're better than everyone else. They tease you if you aren't what they consider to be "socially acceptable". I've been a victim of cruelty from my peers for the past five years, and each and every single morning, I wake up and dread going to school. I always pray that I'll make it through the day without getting picked on or totally ignored by my peers. Then, there's the classes. I get so confused and lost in school and I'm just too afraid to ask for help, convinced that people will think I'm stupid if I do. And then, there's the teachers. A lot of them are so mean and they treat you badly. A lot of nights, I cry myself to sleep and hope that I won't wake up the next morning... that I won't have to go to school and suffer. I swear to God, I'm going to break one of these days... and it's not going to be pretty.

I also agree with a lot of you as well. School is good because, without it, we wouldn't have any intelligence. Then we WOULD be stupid. Take advantage; you're getting a free education.

Jimmy Bob

It's funny, tootieismyfav is not making any sense whatsoever, and keeps contradicting himself. Basically, What he's been saying is, "I disagree with you, school is not all about who puts in the most effort, but rather it's about effort"...not to sound mean or anything but, tootieismyfav isn't the brightest carrot in the bunch. If you don't believe me go read some of his previous posts. As for Hockeybabe, go read your post over again, you contradicted yourself endlessly. You two need more school than the rest of us it seems. Hey, I got an F in english, that must mean you, tootieismyfav, must have got something much worse, because your english skills, to put it nicely, are below par. I received the F not because I'm stupid, but because I wouldn't do her meaningless busy work. I excelled on the work that I did end up doing!
