When did you first recieve TV Land? It seems like it airs everywhere nowadays.
BTW, I first got it in late September of 2000. By that time, most of the great shows were gone. That stinks.

I got it in late December 2000 along with FX and Great American Country. (I hate GAC!) Most of the new channels now go to digital, which I don't subscribe to.

I first got it in September 1997, that's when we first got Direct TV and the first time we ever had cable. However, I first viewed it during the summer of 1997, at my cousin's home, they have Dish Network. The first time I ever heard of the network was in April of 1996 after seeing ads for TV Land in TV Guide.
I remember the night TV Land went on the air as they broadcasted the first 8-10 hours or so on Nick@Nite. I got that on tape. I remember on the bottom of the screen it kept saying you are watching TV Land from Nick@Nite and if you want to continue watching it to contact you cable system. Also that first night they showed nothing but retro-commericals, loved that early 70s KFC spot !!!!
I contact my cable company then to see if they would put TV Land on- was told they will look into it.
A few years went by-still no TV Land. By then I have given up hope in getting that channel by cable so I had Direct TV installed.
Never forget what happened the next day as I had a few neighbors actually reported me to Adelphia Cable for "having a dish inside city limits". Of course nothing was done about it as there is no such law in the books but I did receive many letters ( about 20 or so ) over the next year by Adelphia begging me to "come back" to cable. Never did !!!
Even today 2002, my old cable system Adelphia still does NOT offer TV Land in my hometown. Even recently when they merge the system with the system in a nearby town which offered TV Land, rather than offer TV Land to viewers in my hometown the cable company decided to drop it and to my knowledge that was the only channel dropped.
I cant say 100% for sure but I have heard from many that the "real" reason why TV Land is not offered in my hometown is due to a letter written to the local paper. The woman "heard a rumor about TV Land coming to cable" and complained that the channel is a waste of space and the cable company could do better and said that the viewers are not that smart and really went off that TV Land showed the same single show every weekend. The cable company saw the letter and decided to add Home & Garden instead, and they ( according to rumor )supposed to have promise/made a deal to the woman that TV Land will never be carried by their system. If thats the case- the cable company has kept up their promise.
I first viewed it in August 2000 but got it on December 20,2001.

Does anyone remember those commercials when TV Land first came out they had people saying 'Take Me To TV LAND!'? Well my mother saw that commercial and found out TV Land was airing Petticoat Junction so she called our cable company and said "Take Me To TV LAND!" Unfortunately the cable operator thougt it was a prank joke and hangerd up on her. It wasn't untill a year later we got TV Land but by that time Petticoat left the station along with Green Arces.

Does anyone remember Twip? Twip is the all-purpose product that TV Land executives created. They use to show commercials for it and it was used for everything from washing your hair to cleaning your carpets. It ceased to exsist sometime in '98 or '99.

They finally, finally, finally added TV Land to my cable this past Monday! (April 8th). My cable company has got to be one of the worst around! (Cablevision in Central New Jersey). What ticks me off is that this same company serves many of the surrounding communities, and provides these other towns with a much wider selection of channels - but we pay the same rate as they do. What other business can get away with charging some of their customers full price, while only giving them half the services that other customers get?
For a long time, I did not get the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, A&E, and a few others. Until about two years ago, we didn't even get C-Span! (I thought everybody got that!)

I got it I think maybe two years ago because here in Seattle I don't know if this is every where but the cable company requires that you have a digital box. and we had the basic box. But I don't think everyone has it because that channel doesn't get very high ratings the highest they got was like 1.5 million viewers and that was when the played the I love Lucy pilot .

I got it on September 20, 1997 when I first got Satellite. Then on 07/21/00, I switched from Satellite to Adelphia Cable(mine sucked), so I didn't get TVLand. Three years later, Adelphia Cable In my area started to add lots of channels, and TVLand was part of the package. Then later, I went back to satellite and I still have TVLand to this day.

I got TV Land sometime in the late 90s, shortly after it was introduced. Comcast in the area I lived then, at that time would constantly shuffle and add to their line-up. They would arbitrarily choose the networks. We got GSN in 97, but no FOX/ABC Family till a year after I moved (2005).
When I went off to Curry College (1999), they added TV Land the year I started there (Cable in dorms included w/ tuition!). However, they removed it for my graduating semester, since the year before the channel picture kept freezing, with the audio still intact. It'd stay that way for weeks, fix itself, and do it again. At least now I live in a place where I can watch what I want :)

Long after it stopped being good. I don't know when it started but we got it about 7 years after it premiered. By that time, all of the good shows were gone, no more Treasures of TV Land, no more viewer's choice or whatever they called it. Longstreet, Shane, Coronet Blue, The Loner, and tons of other seldom seen shows were all gone. By the time I got it, I never bothered to watch it.

I first got it in Febuary of 2000 when we moved to an apt., and got a new cable system. By then, most of the good and/or rarely seen shows were gone, but they still showed "Mannix" and "Adam 12" and on Fridays they had the "ULTIMATE FAN SEARCH" which would sometimes show rarley seen shows like "MR. TERRIFFIC" "THE NEW DICK VAN DYKE SHOW" "THE JACK BENNY SHOW and some others.
1998 when I first got satellite TV.
