That the season premimre and of the Simpsons and Malcolm in the middle was tonight, not next Sunday... Is it cause of the game?

Yes. It's because of the game. The World Series doesn't always go to a game seven but this year it did. Normally the World Series would have ended in October but this year the regular season got delayed due to the turn of events on September 11th.

Even if the World Series hadn't gone to game seven, Fox was already planning to substitute reruns tonight, because they didn't want to compete with the Emmy Awards.
