Has anyone seen Leave it to Beaver the movie?
Is it horrible or is it worth a look?
I see the Disney Channel has it on tonight.

I have to admit that I have no desire to the see the movie!! IMHO I feel it doesn't do the classic show justice!! Just like they attempted to take old sitcoms and turn them into supposed box office movies. They find out that that isn't the case. I compare seeing an movie from an old television show, like trying to substitute something for something else!! It's like eating carob instead of chocolate!! I feel nothing replaces the real thing!! Then of course, that's just my opinion!!

I know that Dennis the Menace the movie sucked. IMO
And the Brady Bunch movie (both of them)without the old cast was more of a spoof than a real attempt at a movie.
I have a feeling the LITB movie will be just as bad.

I've seen it and i must say, i thought it was horrible. Eddie and Lumpy are on it and so is Mrs. Cleaver but it's not the same. When you're watching it, it just makes you angry that Hollywood would ruin a number 1 show like that in 2 hours.

Thanks for sharing that with us TheBeav. I somehow had a feeling that would be the case!! Those movies NEVER compare to the original show!! :happyface

Thanks for the info.
I`m skipping the movie!
I`ll wait for the real thing.
Even if it has to be without Ward!: :crying:

Avoid the movie. The tv show rocked, but don't see that updated 90's movie. In my opinion, the actors just sucked. Maybe it's just me, but I just couldn't see anybody else playing the main characters besides Hugh, Barbara, Tony, and Jerry. The actors that they got to be in that movie, just flat out couldn't bring the roles to life unlike the originals. Do yourself a favor and just watch an episode of Beaver on tvland if you ever have the feeling to watch the updated 90's movie.

I agree with everyone who says the 1997 full-length Leave It To Beaver movie was terrible! It was nothing like the original series from the 50's and 60's. No wonder Jerry turned down the offer to appear in the movie. Now did Beaver and Wally fight so violently that they were knocking all kinds of stuff over in their room in the tv show? Or did you see Wally passionately kissing some girl in the tv show? NO! I think the movie lacked all innocence and charm that the tv show had. And I think by looking at box office numbers of the movie, practically everyone else agreeed. :) The movie proved to be a finacial flop for Universal. Hopefully they learned their lesson about making another show into a movie.

I seriously doubt it. Hollywood will keep making movies out of excellent old tv shows. The one thing that I'm so frightened of is Hollywood coming out with a revamped movie to The Andy Griffith Show. Of course they couldn't call it TAGS, but calling it Mayberry: The Free for All. It makes my stomach feel ill to think of Hollywood snatching at TAGS and making some crappy movie out of it. What if Hollywood got their hands on a script close to All in the Family, or Sanford and Son? Hollywood can't top originals, and usually don't even come close so I don't understand why they keep trying?

I didn't think it was terrible but it wasn't good either.

Oh, that would not be good! I hope this is one classic they leave alone. The legacy of TAGS is perfect right now, and some dumb movie had better not mess it up either (that is, if there EVER is a movie, which I hope not). As for Hollywood, I don't know why they even bother remaking tv shows into movies. I know there are more in the works, too. These movies turn into such financial failures, you would think they would learn their lesson after awhile. But they hope people feel nostalgic and will attend the movie theaters to see these movies. But, it never works, and people know its not the original. What do the movie producers think, that the public is stupid? Obviously if they keep making these movies. :)

You have a point, but it CERTAINLY was not a good movie.
