Things that teachers/professors do that drive you bonkers.

1. Take attendance 5 minutes before the class officially starts. Don't they know that people have classes or other obligations before that class? I get penalized for being late even though I actually show up at the time the class is supposed to start.

2. Keep us students after class has ended. Don't they know we have other classes, jobs, etc. after class?

3. Get upset because someone has to miss a class. True, some people do cut, but a legitimate reason such as illness, death in the family, family emergency, etc. is NOT a cut.

4. Lose your project/report/test/etc. and penalize you for it being late.

I'm sure I can come up with a lot more. What are things that your professors/teachers do that really bug you?

Hmmm....my teachers don't really do any of that stuff...except keep us after class sometimes, which is irksome.

I hate it when teachers don't know how to teach or don't prepare any sort of lesson plan or anything. Now, class discussions are good, but the students shouldn't have to teach themselves. I had one teacher who would ask the class a question, and because the class was boring and everyone hated the teacher, it was like pulling teeth to get anyone to answer. So he'd sit there and stare at us for 10 minutes, while we're sitting here chirping like crickets before he finally says something else. :rolleyes:

my old history teacher used to spit...it was annoying cuz he was always in my face and he got so carried away by acting out a scene (they were so good too) that he'd spit on me. or my paper. or a note i happened to be writing.

I hate it when teachers call on you when you dont even raise your hand. I hate that so much. I had this one teacher last year, she was my spanish teacher, everyday we would repeat the same thing at the beginning of class. We would go thru the numbers, days of the week, and months of the year EVERY FREAKIN DAY. And in that same class, I used to sit right in front and the teacher would put the overhead right by my desk and stick her butt right in my face. I dunno if she was aware of the fact that she was doing it or not but its like HELLO! She'd stand there the whole period too. I'd be huffing and puffing and mumbling and she still wouldnt move. And if she did move, she'd stand right in front of me! I mean, I liked that teacher and we were close and everything but we weren't that close. Its like C'mon gimme a break. My goodness!

I'm only in Spanish 2 and when my spanish teacher gives instructions, she does them in Spanish and nobody has a single clue what she is saying. It makes scence that the highest grade currently is a B. Mine is a D.

-Teachers who give impossible homeworks. My ancient world teacher had requirements for this poster and certain info had to be on it but the info was like no where on the Internet but yet he still expects it.

-Whenever my spanish teacher is too lazy to teach us our lesson and just lets us sit there. Yeah its fun not having to do work but instead she'll teach it on some other day and go so fast that no one gets it but yet we'll be quized over it the next time.

-Whenever my spanish teacher rambles in spanish just to annoy everyone because she knows no one understands what she is saying.

And the list goes on but for now im done..

One more! Whenever my algebra teacher doesnt give us enough time for our tests! It makes me so mad because I'm so slow at taking Algebra tests.

Theres this gurl named sara in my math class and when were in math my teacher calls us both by our first name so we dunno who shes talkin to and when it aint math she calls me by my 1st & last name thats dumb

Per 1- PE
-The special ed teacher teaches these 2 mentally challenged girls and when we play half court basketball and have to take it out every time the other team gets it, she stops the game and gives the ball to one of them and goes "Here! Take it out!" and they always pass it to the other special ed kid and they are always on different teams, so therefore they always pass it to the other team!

Per 2- TCA
-Spandex. She owns 20 pairs of spandex. She never matches. Se hasn't wore the same thing twice. She has a sweatshirt with a big picture of Edgar Allen Poe wearing sunglasses with a raven on his shoulder.
-She is suicidal and tells us about her....scars.
-She started screaming at me because I got the lowest score in the class on a quiz that she made me take after being absent for 3 days.
-She got all pissy when me and this other girl didn't have our homework that she said we didn't have to do at home.
-She tells us personal information that we REALLY dont care to hear about. Lets see....In France, a fat guy laid down in the middle of the street and started reciting poems....She had oral surgery and bled for 9 hours.......She got lost and smacked her head with the trunk.......She's been married 7 times......There are SO many more.....

Per. 3- Algebra
-She doesn't explain a damn thing!!
-She hasn't changed our seats all year.
-She's the most BORING teacher you're ever gonna meet.

Per. 4- TCA
-She treats us like little kids!! We have a marble jar. We get 10 marbles a day, but if we talk, we get one taken away. Once our jar is filled,WE GET A MOVIE!!

Per. 5- Choir
-This lady owns 3 outfts I swear.
-EEEEEEEEVIIIIIIIL!!!!

Per. 6-TAP (same teacher as Algebra)
-This is supposed to be a fun class, but we have silent study days Monday through Thursday and on Friday we get to play checkers.

Per. 8- Social Studies
-He never matches.
-He calls people by their last name.....WE AREN'T IN THE ARMY! But he doesnt call me by my last name....he calls me Mac.
-All he does is TALK!

Per. 9- Science
-She has the most annoying voice!!
-She sits at her computer all day making these little ticks with her face, so it looks like shes smiling frowning smiling frowning....we wonder what shes looking at....
-She totally has favorites.

--When your teacher officially gives up on you and tells you to teach yourself if you can't don't care any more than that.

--When your teacher CONSTANTLY punishes the same people over and over, whether they had anything to do with it or not. Heck, there are people in my class who could be out of the room when an incident happened and she'd SITLL punish them.

--When your teacher never matches.

--When your teacher is constantly smiling, no matter how bad a mood she is in. In all honesty, this REALLY irks me something fierce.

--When your teacher never matches...to the point where y our classmates wonder if she's color blind.

--When your teacher constantly sucks on her glasses...makes me SHUDDER.



Ok, there are a lot more things that irk me, but I won't go into great detail. However, I must admitt I have a few very cool teachers that I hope to have until I graduate from highschool. They make learning very interesting and entertaining.

Fortunately this semester I can walk in late to all my classes. The problem then is finding a seat. In my English class, one girl came in late the other day, and she had to sit in a chair blocking the door because there was nowhere else for her to sit. Budget cuts...&%@$!

I also hate it when profs get upset over misses. I had a guy last semester that gave you ONE free miss. ONE!!! That's ridiculous! This of course meant people came to class sick, which I just hate. Leave your germs at home people!

Another thing about that is the ones that demand doctor's notes. Look, if I don't feel good, I'm not going, but I'm not paying for a doctor's visit everytime I feel like crap, which for me is like 50% of the time.

And one time i joined the cheerleading team but it was gay so i quit and while every1 was leavin for the 1st game someone asked me where my uniform was and i told em i quit and my teacher heard and shes all why? and i was like cuz its dumb and boring and stuff and she dragged me into the office to look for a uniform but i escaped then she came back out w/one and she was like YELLIN at me to take it to the game and i said no so she told me to at least say rah rah rah and crap 1nce in a while and she stuffed the uniform in my backpack but i took out and left real fast. the next day she asked me if i said rah rah rah at the game in the middle of class and i was like HECK NO! lol

And one time we were gonna do a spellin bee and my brother didnt wanna be in it shes all lecturin him shes all this is ur 8th grade year dont back out! and there were a thousand other 8th graders that didnt wanna be in it and she didnt say nethin to them and shes all will yall think less of him if hes not in it? GAWD I HATE HER

In my humble opinion, attendance should not be taken at college. You are old enough to take responsibility for yourself. You are paying lots of money to go there. It should be your choice whether you want to actually attend class or not. If you fail because you don't attend, well then I guess you'll do some growing up real quick. But on the other hand if the class is totally stupid and you could ace it by only going to the exams, I say more power to you, sit on your @$$ at home watching the Price is Right in your PJs for all I care.

NancyRulz24, I can't believe you have 9 periods a day. What grade are you in? In high school I only had 7 periods. We went for 7 hours a day. Heck I think I only had 7 periods in 1-8th grade too, but I can't remember for sure. Also, what is TCA and TAP? You're second period TCA teacher sounds whacked! 7 marriages?!

I agree. I don't see why professors waste their time taking attendance. I'm an adult and it's MY decision whether or not I attend class. Personally, I always attend class unless I'm sick or there's a family emergency or something.

That sorta bugs me too, but I just tell myself that they probably woke up sick or had some emergency or something. Profs are humans too, even if they are annoying at times.

1. When the teachers who often can't teach stay on with their jobs intact, because they have seniority and the good ones are let go....(Have you ever heard of a teacher with seniority or a Prof. with tenue, let go?)

2. Voices that trail off...especially when they move around the room as they are talking, and they never talk above a whisper!

3. Those that are 80+ years old and are still teaching when they can hardly walk anymore....RETIRE ALREADY!

4. Teachers that don't know the material that they are teaching

5. Teachers that show favoritism to students simply because they like a student's dress or haircolor. Teachers that punish students because they don't like the student's dress...haircolor...etc (This crap seems to go on more in high school than college, but it happens in college too!)

6. Teachers who downgrade your papers because even though you know the material and have it all writen down in a neatly organized way and support your aruments with evidence from the assigned readings/lectures, sometimes you will be downgraded if you give an opinion that is different than what the instructor wants to hear. (I had a History Prof, who was a real arrogent S.O.B and a Sociology Prof who was ditto and they were like this all the time)

There are others...But overall I had great profs/TA's in college and much better experiences than in high school.

Yeah, I guess I'm more annoyed at the situation than the professor. It's not their fault if they are sick. I would sure hope that an illness or emergency is the only reason for a last minute cancelation. It's just that I hate getting up early, getting all the way to class and finding out it is cancelled. I'm alway thinking how nice it would have been to get an extra hour (or more:)) of sleep.

I'll go by period...

Period 1, Info. Tech. II

She moves sooooooooo slow. We'll do the same exercise for an entire week, and I get it done in one day... so for the other four days of the week I sit there playing Free Cell the entire period. And she takes off points for the STUPIDEST things. Like, five points off for putting your full name in the header of a Word document instead of just last name.

Period 2, H. English

The only thing she does to annoy me isn't really her fault. The people in my class are INCREDIBLY rude and talk loudly throughout the entire period. And she just talks over them, but she doesn't talk loudly so no one hears her. Again, not her fault, though.

Period 3, H. Geometry

She insults people who get problems wrong... it's not exactly a great confidence-booster.

Period 4, Band

Ahh, the band Nazis... I mean, directors. They yell more than they speak, which is probably a characteristic common to all band directors. They scream if one person gets a wrong note, they give pop playing tests to individual people who they know can't play that part... They think that we should put band top on our list of priorities. We should cancel plans to accomodate important band dates.

Period 5, Personal Finance

I have C lunch, which means I go to fifth period for an hour of class, then to lunch, then return to class for half an hour of study hall. When my class gets back from lunch, the door is always locked, which is understandable. However, she is always, like, 10 minutes late to study hall, so I only get 20 minutes of study hall which is really annoying for when I fall asleep the night before, before I do my biology or history homework. Then I need that study hall and she's always late getting there. And another thing, the extra credit on our quizzes is always throwing paper into a box. One try for each question on the quiz. I have NO athletic ability so even though I get better grades on all our assignments and tests than most of the kids in my class, some of them have higher grades simply because they have good aim.

Period 6, Biology I

Oh, WHERE to begin... For one thing, my teacher makes up the utterly ridiculous poems and recites them to us. And they're soooooo stupid. We also have quizzes or tests every other day. What irks me most about the quizzes is they're over material we haven't even discussed in class! It's SO annoying. We'll do things like watch nasty videos and do labs and worksheets in class, while for homework we read from the book and do vocab. But we never go over the stuff in the book, and that's all the quizzes are ever over! And half the time the stuff in the videos isn't even relevant to whatever we read in the book.

Period 7, U.S. History 9

We never do anything. We sit in class and have discussions, like, every day. And not even discussions on things that pertain to history. We discuss the "Quote of the Day" on the board. And he calls on people who aren't raising their hand to give their opinion on the quote. If I wanted to SHARE my opinion, I would have raised my hand. And we get tons of homework. We have to outline pages of our history book. Now, my history teacher last year made us do this, so I'm used to it. But I've ALWAYS hated it. Oh, and the teacher I have for history this year was my Spanish/Latin teacher last year. He also taught French/German. But he didn't know ANY of the languages he was teaching! You say something to him in Spanish, he gets out his notes and books to figure out what you're saying. Even stuff that he had taught us earlier in the year; we remembered longer than he did.

BTW, who was it that had 9 periods? Wow... I have 7 at 48 minutes a day, plus a half hour study hall. In school for 7 hours, 9 minutes. In junior high we had 8 periods... but only 7 classes, we just had English for two periods.

I don't like teachers that........

1) Say, "YOU are the ones who need to learn this. I don't have to know this stuff. I already have my diploma." Of course you have your diploma. You're 30-40 years older than us. It's not like we're the same age as you but we just didn't choose to go to school until now.

2) Won't let students bring backpacks into the room because they "might trip over them." I don't understand how anyone could trip over a backpack. It's just sitting there, you can see it a mile away.

3) Sit around slurping drinks and chowing down on food but won't let students bring in drinks and food.

In first grade I had this teacher that gave me detention for a week because my chair wasn't pushed in properly. Gimme a break! I was 7 years old!

My Math teacher says "Lord love a duck." when it gets to loud.. of course she's my fave teacher but it's still weird.

Most of my teacher's will ask me if I can hear them, or if I need to take a video come to complete the notes. It's like god, people! If I can't hear you I'll tell ya! I'm not totally deaf, ya know! I may just be ignoring you.. ;)

LOL, that's happened to me too. One morning, a bunch of us showed up for class to find a note on the door saying we had no class. Turns out the guy sent us all an email, but the people who didn't check their mail (me for example) woke up early and showed up when we could have slept. Grr.

I hate it when I show up to take my senior final, open the envelope, and find.....(drumroll)...the WRONG TEST!!!

GGRrr....I told the proctors and they were like "duuuuh" so finally they decided I had to go over to the college office and see if they had any of the one I needed. Of course they didn't, so I had to track down my prof. to get it. They kept saying I might've had to reschedule, in which case I would have been livid since I've been planning on being done today for weeks. I mean what if I had planned on being out of town? Would I have had to cancel a trip because they f*ed up?

Oh well, all's well that end's well.......

I'm in 8th grade. The periods are 40 minute long. TCA is Talentd Communication Arts. It's like an advanced English class. TAP is 20 minutes and it's prety much homeroom, except in the middle of the day.

Yea, my 2nd period tacher has problems........we went on a field trip today and she kept walking around the bus shoving a Kleenex box in our faces.

My Spanish teacher makes us review the same **** over and over again EVERY GAWD DAMN DAY! And when she's trying to tell us what to do on a test, she always says "On ZEE back" instead of "On the back". That's so freaking annoying.

My US Cultures teacher makes us to the same thing everyday... we never ever get a break. It's constantly partner up, write crap down on a paper, do outlines, read from the book... etc. He's pretty cool, though. He calls us by our last names so whenever he says my last name, I always yell his. Like he'll say "AULT!" and I'll yell "DAVISON!" Hahaha.

My Health/Gym teacher is just a total fu*king loon. She needs mental help. She always talks about her and her husband's sex life. And she ALWAYS tells us that she lerbs us. Once, she touched me and I looked right at her and said "Don't touch me bitch!" so she took points off my grade. She gave me 2 choices.... I could get 5 points off my grade or I could read a poem aloud in front of the class. See, she's a PSYCHO! And she always wears these gay ass floral print clothes. Retarded ****... I h8 her so bad.

My music teacher is just a bitch. Like at the end of class, we have time to ourselves and she's always like "DOOOOOOON'T TALK!!!!!!!"
