Hi Guys,

It's very very close for me between Seseme Street and the Electric Company. I voted for Electric Company because as good as Seseme Street was, (I am referring to the 1970-80's classics, NOT the version shown today! LOL) Electric Company IMO, had more of a "wittier" "funny" "humor" to it!

"HEY YOU GUUUUUYYYSSS!!!!"

Remember the Short Circus? They were cool kids! The songs "The Sign Song" ("In....Out...Park...Walk") I know the whole thing! and I sort of remember the "Lick A Lolly Lolipop Song" They were addictive and you couldn't get them out of your head no matter how hard you tried!

On Seseme Street, the songs were funny! I remember Oscar's "I Love Trash" song, but the best was still the "LA-Dee-Da-Dee-Dum Song! aka "What's the Name of that Song" Grover, Ernie, Bert, and Kermit, were my favorite muppets. Big Bird was an absolute DORK, but in a funny way! Remember how he could never pronounce Mr. Hooper's name? "Oh Hi Mr. Looper!!!" When the actor who played him died , they talked about his death on the show in a very caring and sensitive way.

As for Mr. Rogers, never cared for him....I could watch maybe 10 minutes, but he's just "too simple" Sometimes he cracks me up. No disrespect to Fred, who is a fine person but the show was just kind of boring. With the other two shows mentioned you had fast moving skits, and story's and songs! (Fred's songs were too simple IMO) As a sidenote, I love the music of Billy Joel, but HATE the song "Just the Way You Are" because it REMINDS me of a song/saying from Mr. Rogers! "I like you just the way you are." It will be interesting to see your responses/comments!

I never really watched The Electric Company or 3-2-1 Contact much. I did like the Bloodhound Gang though. Weren't they on one of those shows?

I suppose my favorite was Sesame Street. Ya just can't beat Muppets. My favorite part of Mr. Rogers was when he went to factories and stuff and showed how things are made.

But I also really liked Square One I think it was called. It was a math themed show, and they had MathNet, a take off of DragNet.

Sesame Street. Not the horrible show that has been on these past couple of years, but the Sesame Street that was on from 1969 up until around 1995. I loved most of the muppets and characters. The skits were funny, entertaining, and educational. Adults could watch it with their kids and enjoy it. Now, when I watch it, I cry.

LAMB CHOP!!!!!!

*sings* It's the song that never ends, and it goes on and on my friends. Some people started singing it without knowing what it was, and they'll continue singing it forever just because this is the song that never ends, and it goes on and on my friends, some people started singing it without knowing what it was, and they'll continue singing it forever just because this is the song that never ends!!!!!!

I was going to post this same thing! LOL Man, this is a hard one. I pretty much grew up on PBS. We didn't get cable until I was in third grade. Hmm, it's really close between Mr. Rogers and Sesame. I liked Lamb Chop too, but that didn't have the lasting effect type thing as the other shows. My mom and I used to watch Fred and Sesame every morning. Hmm, this really is a toughie. It's hard to choose between friends. As for Mr. Rogers saying "I like you just the way you are"...I love that! I was watching Fred during my vacation, and I was talking to him and singing with him. I got to see how chalk is made! I was a little disappointed with Fred's last episodes. I mean, I wanted a teary farewell to all of my neighbors!!! I guess Fred didn't want to upset the little kids and stuff, though. Hm, but, I had friends on Sesame Street too! What a great place! When I watch Sesame now, though, it's a little...disappointing. The street has changed. Isn't it sad when neighborhoods change? It's become flashier and who's this Alan guy? When did he move in? At least Bob, Susan, Gordan, Maria, Luis, and all the rest are still there! I got to talk to Bob on the phone once!!!!! Sesame has changed in some ways. I still love to watch "Christmas Eve on Sesame Street" every Christmas. That's a classic. Well, now that I've given my in-depth analysis of Public Television shows...I still can't choose. :)

Sesame Street! What a great kids program. I watched it all the time. I didn't realize it had changed so much recently. That's too bad.

With regard to Seseme Street, do any of you remember "David?" He was Maria's boyfriend. Back in the late 80's (He died of stomach cancer in 1990) Anyway, he spent his last years in a psychiatric ward. The actor, Northern Calloway, had a mental breakdown. I don't know all of the details but he was found in a field someplace, and the owners of a nearby house found him totally naked and when authorites came to arrest him he started SCREAMING at them, "I'M DAVID FROM SESAME STREET AND THEY ARE TRYING TO KILL ME!" and he just went balistic throwing things at them. (Kind of funny in a sick way) No mention of his disapperance from the show, mental illness, or death was ever mentioned on Seseme Street.

I had always wondered what happened to David from Sesame Street. He seemed to disappear without a trace and no one seemed to care. Maybe there's a dark, disturbing secret on that street... :very evil grin:

Yes. Let's take a walk down memory lane, shall we?

Mathnet: Keeping the streets safe...

"The story you about to see is a fib, but it's short. The names are made up, but the problems are real" dum duh dum DUM!

Here we have George Frankly and Kate Monday, the quintessential Mathnet detectives:

Here's George with Pat Tuesday. I don't remember her very well but she can't have been as cool as Kate. No way, no how.

Now, does anyone remember MathMan? Sadly I couldn't find any pictures of him. But to refresh your memory, MathMan was like PacMan. He'd have to eat, say, multiples of 2. He would stop at the numbers and decide whether or not to eat them. As he was moving about the screen he would go "MathMan MathMan MathMan..." When ever he made a mistake (say he ate 15), this tornado would come on the screen and go "grrr grumble grumble grumble."

~*~*~*~*~
Ahh, Square One ruled. Truely one of the best children's shows ever.

Actually, it's before your time, so don't go buy a rocking chair just yet! :happyface You're 3-4 years younger than me, and The Electric Company was before my time even, though I think I just missed it. I remember my older sister (4 years older than me) was really into The Electric Company and 3-2-1 Contact, but I think those shows were kind of fading out when I started watching TV because I don't remember watching them much.

Anyone remember Newton's Apple? Or the guy that wore the "body suit" that showed the inside of his body? I never really like those much but I was just thinking about them.

Anyone ever watch the psycho physics dude? He's this old white haired man, actually his show is focused at older kids, I think, like junior high and maybe even high school. Sometimes they show him on TLC. It's pretty amusing. But it is actually interesting too.

Oh, my gosh! I wrote to him too! LOL It was sooo awesome! I got a personal reply back along with a whole bunch of picture, post cards, etc. stuff. Because I told him that I have a brother and sister, he sent extras of everything for them! How cool is that? Fred Rogers is definitely a class act. I still love his show. :)

Hooray for the Lamb Chop puppets, Caitlin and Karli! I'll go find mine in my closet! :D

Oh, I used to watch Ghostwriter too!! That was great stuff. It was so funny recently when we were watching a video in Health. Jamal, Lenny, and Alex were in it! LOL I've actually taken the "Who Burned Mr. Brinker's Store?" video out of the library a couple of times. :D Oh! Remember the "double welcome" thing? Those two-faced masks scared me so much! LOL

Gosh there's a bunch that I liked to watch
Zoobaleezoo - This was my favorite PBS show my favorite charactor was Cocatoo and I just loved it when they would ride in the time machine.
Shining Time Station
Lamb Chops play along
Sesame Street of course
Ghostwriter
Mr. Rogers
Reading Rainbow
when I was real little I remember watching 3-2-1- contact and the Letter People.
Does anyone remember the show I can't remember the name of it but there was this lady and she was trapped in a space ship and she had to read to the space kids and the lady that ran the ship wouldn't let her off and there was another show just like it I think the same people were in it, this lady was trapped in a castle and she had to read books to the witch? We got to watch that one in school.
And I vaguely remeber watching Captin Kangaroo. Was this an actual PBS show I can't remember?

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! The LETTER PEOPLE!!! :D :D :D

I was gonna mention them but I plum forgot!! I loved the Letter People. I was wondering if anyone else remembered them. I never saw them on TV but we watched videos in Kindergarten.

But did you have the GOOD Letter People, or the EVIL Letter People??

Observe: On the left, we have the GOOD Letter People. On the right, we have the EVIL Letter People

http://24.95.95.123/~liz/Good%20and%20Evil%20letter%20people.jpg

Note how the EVIL Letter People are pathetically politically correct. Mr. X isn't "Mixed Up" anymore, he's "Different". Mr. H doesn't have horrible hair, he has happy hair. And apparently someone was afraid Mr. Delicious Donuts, Mr. Cotton Candy, and Mr. Lemon Lollipops were advocating cannibalism or something, because they're gone.

Also notice how the EVIL Letter People can't even line up in alphabetical order! Sheesh!!!

OMG I completely forgot about this show! I never watched it much, but I still have these vague memories of it. I remember we had this growth chart with the Zoobaleezoo characters on it for the longest time. LOL Then it got ripped, and I think it got taped...but then we were all off the chart anyways so I think it got thrown away...awww. :D

So, for those of you who picked a favorite...why did you pick that show?
