I just stumbled across sitcomsonline.com tonight, and I'm happy I did.

From reading some of the posts, I've found alot of people that have apparently alot of the same experiences I have had over the years with 50's & 60's sitcoms, and finding them on cable.

In the late 80's (before TV LAND) CBN/Family Channel carried quite a few shows and I watched them religously (Farmer's Daughter, Father Knows Best, Patty Duke Show, Hazel, etc)...Nick at Nite showed quite a few... there were local affiliates in my area (Memphis Tennessee) that showed your standard Leave it to Beaver and Andy Griffith reruns.

Now though, I'm living in Columbus Ohio, ten or eleven years later, I have more channels than I know what to do with, via DirecTV.

However, there are so many shows that I can't find anywhere. I've been made aware of some channels (other than TV LAND)...Hallmark, GoodLife (which DirecTV doesn't carry) and a few others.

But there are still some shows, that I have been unable to find anywhere. And I wonder, have they all just disappeared for good? Or is there some local affiliate in Idaho that shows them at 3 AM?

Shows like:

The Patty Duke Show
Father Knows Best
Hazel
Bachelor's Father
Family Affair
Farmer's Daughter

Alot of the rest seem to be on the affore mentioned channels via cable or directv, unfortunately, we still don't have GoodLife.

Are there any channels that carry these shows, or are they totally gone forever?

Another thing, since moving to Columbus, I haven't noticed ANY local affiliates (CBS, ABC, NBC) showing any old sitcoms, late at night, like back in the 80's, when I was a kid. Apparently none of them want to...

Do any of the affiliates in your area show any old sitcoms?

Just trying to make some contact out there and get some long time questions of mine, answered.

Thanks,
SightandSound

ahhhh. CBN, the Family Entertainer.
I used to love that channel. Even the commericals..like the one telling you how to install a small windmill at your house to make your own power..presto instant power company. Cool.

What I think TV Land should do is to create 4 seperate channels. Like VH 1 does with
VH1 classic, Vh1 Soul and there is even a country Vh1.

Have TV Land 50s ( only shows from the 1950s), TV land 60s, TV Land 70s, and keep the current TV Land as strictly an 80s & 90s
channel. I would not be one bit surprised that NIck @ Night will disappear all together within 10 years. In recent years they have been cutting back their lineup ( remember when Nick started at 8PM ).

Nickelodeon has so many shows out that they can start a 24 channel in their own right.

footnote here..before CBN cable there was WYAH-TV 27 in the Norfolk/ Virginia Beach area. Pretty much all religion until the early 70s when Pat Robertson decided that channel 27 could make money by airing reruns of westerns, I Love Lucy, Perry Mason, Beaver ect.. The reruns made channel 27 a very popular station and made lots of money. Knowing this when Robertson started CBN it included reruns to reach a wider audience.
( Robertson sold WYAH in the 80s, it is now owned at Viacom and is one of the top UPN stations in America).

But some religious folks didnt like the reruns coming to WYAH. Some thought it was the work of the devil.

One of the biggest complainers....Jim & Tammy Faye Bakker. Then went on to form
the PTL Club.
