What is your opinion on The Audience Laughter in Sitcoms.

Well, most of the time it doesn't bother me, but like in those shows where they don't even say something funny, and the laugh track goes off, then it can be a little annoying. I like it when its live though, then people don't laugh in unison and sometimes you can hear one person just bursting into laughter and that what makes you laugh, like on The Golden Girls, even though I think that they used a laugh track. Do you know if they filmed it live ever?

Doesn't matter to me :)
Especially on Designing Women... Julia just kind of looks at the audience. Hysterical.

It depends on the show. If it's a show that's actually funny and I enjoy watching then the laughter track really doesn't bother me. However, if it's a show that's just not funny in the slightest and the fake laughter is going on all the time, that really gets on my wick!!
But what bugs me the most is laughter tracks on cartoons - like 'Scooby-Doo' and 'The Flintstones'. It's a cartoon for God's sake - do they think we're that dumb that we're gonna believe there's a live studio audience there???

A sitcom just isn't a sitcom without the audience laughing... :happyface :happyface :happyface

Most times I don't even notice them, except for when the show isn't funny at all, as Mossopp said. Of course then I usually don't watch the show.
Sometimes it bothers me when the laugh track is "off". Sometimes the laughter is too loud or comes in a split second too early, and those times it really bothers me and is distracting.
And I agree with Mossopp....laugh tracks on cartoons are totally lame....musta been a 70s thing...
I don't usually mind the laughter. What really bothers me is when a kid on the show says something cute and the audience goes "Awwwwww". That is so annoying!:rolleyes:

I love laugh tracks, recorded or live audience. I think its cool on cartoons as well. In fact, I wouldn't mind if some comedy movies had a live audience/laugh track. But, that's just me. :)
