I myself voted for Facts of Life, I just could never get into that show at all. I don't think Friends really is underrated, I think it's about where it should be.
Just my opinions of course! :)

This was a close one. I never cared for Full House, but Facts of Life just bored me to tears and got my vote. I know a lot of people love this show, but it simply wasn't for me. It comes on, and I reach for the remote.
To each his own I guess. :)

With the exception of Everybody Loves Raymond, I don't care for any of those shows. I think Friends is the most overrated. I just don't find it funny at all. I hate it!

I voted for Friends too. I like it, but not as much as when it first came out. Full house is the only show on that list that i don't like.

My vote went for Happy Days. I just never liked that show. I thought Laverne & Shirley was much better. Well...at least the early years of L&S. And Friends came close to getting my vote. Even though I LOVE the show very much, it's not as good as it was during the first 5 seasons.
I voted for The Facts of Life, my "second most" overrated would be Friends.

Definetly Friends, it is quite funny sometimes but is generally not that good.

I don't see why Friends is winning!!! Friends is alot more realistic than Gilligan's Island ever was!! Friends is not overrated, it didn't get alot of publicity at first, until the media just COULDN'T ignore the fact that Friends was so popular and so well written..THAT'S when it started getting publicity, when everyone started watching it.

The Facts of Life - It's a great show and I was pleasntly surprised by this sitcom. Wish it would return to TV.
I Love Lucy - Simply THE classic sitcom.
Diff'rent Strokes - Another great show. Glad it's back to TV on TNN
The Brady Bunch - Somewhat overrated, but that's simply my opinion. Could have used more laughs.
Full House - Wow...I haven't seen this show in years. Maybe I'll tune in to WGN one day to see if its funny or not
Friends - Talk about overrated! I've seen two episodes, and simply was not amused. Again, simply my opinion. (Reality doesn't always equal fun, unreality simply can rule!)
Everybody Loves Raymond - Have never seen it. Any good?
Gilligan's Island - Great slapstick and goofiness.
Happy Days - I love this show. TV Land, bring it back. HEEEY! :)
Three's Company - Another superb show. Glad its on TNN and N@N.

Um....Friends has been a major hit since it debuted in 1994, and as far as I can remember has always had major publicity. I may be wrong, but I always remember this show being talked about.

Yeah, that's true, but what I meant to say is, people are saying that Friends is only no. 1 becuase of publicity, and Im just trying to say, that the CURRENT publicity around Friends is becuase of it's ratings (since it's IS the number one show), and not the other way around...Plus, Im not really old enough to remember the publicity when it FIRST came on. lol

Your poll Did not include the Cosby Show which I feel is overrated. Cosby is a comic with little talent whose show is a hit for reasons beyond me

I voted for Three's Company. I know it was supposed to be sort of 'slapstick', with Jack falling over everything, but I just cannot stand John Ritter. I can't even watch movies that he's in, that's how awful I think he is. I hope this opinion doesn't offend anyone. ;)

I have always thought that the Brady Bunch was highly overrated. Although I watched it as a child, I can not even bring myself to watch it today. I think the Brady Bunch along with their overrated counterparts the Partridge Family, were two of the most overrated shows in television history.

I personally don't understand the animosity towards Friends.
Friends may be in its swan's song, and is not as good as it once was, but there is a reason it has been a hit since the very beginning and remained strong. The actors may not be Oscar quality or anything, but they have good chemistry, which is important in a sitcom, especially one about, well, friends. The show is smartly written and has a diverse range of characters so that pretty much anyone who watches can find a favorite or someone they can identify with. I don't think Friends has ever resorted to crap like "Very Special Episodes". The only episode I can think of like that is maybe Monica and Chandler's wedding. It is fast-paced and witty. Sure it may be formulaic or predictable at times, but find me a sitcom that isn't.
I have never understood why people like mindless shows like Gilligan's Island. I suppose it's the tiniest bit charming, but that show is vapid.
Also, calling Friends "bandwagon garbage" is curious. It seems to impy that Freinds jumped on the bandwagon, when in reality Friends made the bandwagon. Friends is and will likely remain the sitcom yard stick against which all other 90s sitcoms will be measured (with notable exceptions being Seinfeld, and hmmm....maybe Frasier? Well that's open to debate but I guarantee you Friends will be at or near the top of that list). I see alot of 90s and current shows trying (unsuccessfully) to emulate its success.
I can understand if it's just not your thing. To each their own. I just think that the enormous amount backlash Friends gets is unfair. It's like as if hating Friends is some popular trend that everyone is jumping on the bandwagon of.

I think the thing with Friends is, you like it or you don't. Maybe some people do love to hate it and criticize it because it's so popular/ it's a rip-off of Seinfeld/etc., but all the people I know who don't like the show (and I know a lot of people who don't like it) don't watch it because they don't find it funny to begin with. Personally, Friends could be #100 in the ratings, the actors could get $1.00 an episode, and the critics could all be bashing it and I still wouldn't watch it.

That's cool, and I respect that, but I have to say, anyone who watches both shows would never say Friends is a Seinfeld rip-off, because it is not, on so many levels. Most notably, and first thing that jumps to my mind, is that the characters on Seinfeld are, when you get down to the nitty gritty, mean, selfish, arrogant, and rude. They may be funny while doing it, but they are mean. That's why it ended like it did, with all of them left to an uncertain future in jail, because it was like their just desserts for being a$$holes for so long. They were even mean to each other.
The characters of Friends may come off as a little snobby, but at least they are true, through-thick-and-thin-friends with each other, and they, for the most part, are not rude to random strangers (though of course I'm sure it happens occasionally, it's not an undercurrent to the show like it was for Seinfeld.)

I personally don't think Friends is a Seinfeld rip-off. I was just using it as an example of why some people don't like Friends. I think the only thing Friends and Seinfeld have in common is that I can't stand them!
It bugs me when people say that a show is a knock-off of something else. If every new idea for a TV show, movie, book, etc. had to be origional, then there would be a lot less of those things.

Friends is totally different from Seinfeld. However, Friends once in a while will use a slightly altered form of Seinfeld's humor. Like "The one where" Phoebe is dating two guys and she can't make up her mind which one she wants. And she decides to go with one because he's sensitive. Then she finds out the other one is sensitive. So she goes for him cause he's sensitive and buff, then she finds out the other one is buff too. That's totally something that would happen on Seinfeld. But, lots of shows use that kind of humor. But I say Friends started to be overrated this season. Season 8 so far has been the weakest, but has had the best ratings. Kind of strange.

I Love Lucy is another show that I just don't find funny. I give it respect for being one of the first TV shows and for still having a cult following after all these years, but there are a lot of other shows out there that can make me laugh a lot more than Lucy does.

Personally, I find I Love Lucy to be one of the funniest shows ever. It had so much to offer as a television show- great chemistry among the four actors, comedy, love, laughter, and much more. I just can't see how people would hate it. It is truly a masterpiece, a work of art. :-)

I don't hate I Love Lucy. I think it's better than some of the garbage that's on nowadays. I just never got what was so great about it. I just find other shows a lot funnier.
