Here's the third episode of my series, Gopher's Gateway! Enjoy, all!
-------------------------------
"Into the Sunshine"
Episode 3 of Gopher's Gateway
Thunder clapped once more which shook the structure of the high school. Rain poured down at incredible speeds and the sky was overcast with dreary, gray clouds.
"A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Jefferson County until 1005 AM. This thunderstorm has a history of producing flooding rains, very frequent lightning as well as nickel sized hail." The television and lights suddenly flickered off, then came back on, then finally stayed off.
"Warning!" One of Sean's backup computers beeped. "Main power failure. Activating emergency generators." Half of the library lights and the television reactivated.
Suddenly, another clap of thunder, this one much closer, shook the library. One of the overhead lights exploded, raining sparks down on the library floor. On another side of the library an electrical socket exploded. Jonathan Reeves, who was close to it, was knocked backward off of his feet.
One-hour later-
"Principal's Log, Command Day three, the school encountered a severe thunderstorm. The library, both gyms, and several classrooms including Mrs. Stevens and Mrs. Blossomgame's room were all damaged. Twelve people suffered injuries, but thanks to the holographic doctor, they were healed with little problem. Repairs commence on the school while students of the damaged classrooms combine with other classes. Now that the storm has cleared the Jefferson County area, the superintendent is on his way in the cool Pittman One airship."
Sean Sporman smiled out of the window, staring at the overcast sky. Even though the school was damaged, he was in a bright mood, listening to another one of his favorite songs in the vacant office, Na Na Hey Hey by Steam.
He walked over to one of the new temporary control panels. "Computer, access Starfleet database, multimedia 2d video recordings of Galaxy-class starships."
"Please select vessel." The computer responded.
"USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-D. Drydock video of first flight." The panel button layout disappeared and switched to a full-screen view of the Enterprise in Utopia Plantia Drydock 4. Sean walked to another computer terminal. "Computer, switch music to Star Trek 1: Departure Sequence Theme."
"That selection is not in the database." Sean smiled.
On the display, the massive Enterprise began to slowly move out of the drydock. Sean sat in the 'Captain's Chair' and watched the departure sequence.
Several seconds passed when the videophone rang.
The Superintendent along with the new assistant Superintendent sat in the dirigible, Pittman One.
"Sean, we should be there in about ten minutes. The weather is going to be OK, right?"
"Of course." Sean smiled. "Anything else?"
"Negative, Pittman One out."
The assistant Superintendent, Timothy Johnson, turned his chair ninety degrees to face the Superintendent, Andy Blackerby. "Are you sure this student can be trusted?"
"He's brilliant and so far has proven himself. You see, he's not like those other adolescent. He doesn't even use the vacuum cleaner euphemism for gracious sakes!"
"True. But, his overactive imagination worries me. Maybe--"
"He's defeated two groups of terrorists, undercovered a mind control plot and is popular with most people. You are starting to sound like Mr. Loweique!"
Johnson turned his chair back to face forward. "Sorry, sir. I understand."
Twenty minutes later, Pittman One hovered over Hueytown High, slowly descending in the unused baseball field. Sean, Heather, Meagan waited as the tractor beam emitters that had been installed on the fence activated, sending their blue, sparkling beams that made contact with the airship, slowly bringing it down to the ground.
Meagan was whispering something to Heather, who giggled at what Meagan had said. They both smiled at Sean, who blushed.
The dirigible landed with a thump. Heather jumped, but not at the blimp. "Sean, I think I felt a raindrop."
When Sean looked up, his face was pelted by rain. "Activate your personal shields." They activated their shields as Andy Blackerby and his new assistant exited the craft, carrying umbrellas.
"Sean?" Blackerby asked. "You said no rain…"
"Well, I said, most likely I believe. I guess I should check on it." They began to walk toward the high school.
Jordan Reeves finally found the book he was looking for, a Deep Space Nine book he had borrowed from Sean. He bent over and picked up the book. From the window, he had seen the blimp dock and the rain start. Looks like Sean is wrong again! He thought.
On the other side of the library, where the electrical socket had exploded, injuring his brother, he saw Sarah Lowe and Brooke Stephens beginning to argue about something. Weird, I've never seen them fight before. But, he walked out of the library; happy he had found his book.
Sean walked into the office first. "Computer, stop music and video playback." The others followed him in.
Sean sat down in the Captain's chair. "Computer, display current 33/40 Pinpoint Doppler Radar image." A map of Alabama, which was covered by green, yellow and red spots, replaced the video of the starship departure sequence. One isolated shower was now over the Hueytown area. "Computer, loop last thirty minutes of images." They then saw the shower seem to pop out of nowhere. "Just a pop-up shower, nothing to serious at this point." Sean stated confidently.
"How are the repairs coming along, Sean?" Blackerby asked to Sean. "Well, repairs on the library are almost complete, but priority has been placed on the classrooms, leaving the gym lowest priority."
"Very good, Sean." Just then, Jordan and Heather walked in. "Hey, Sporman." They both said. Jordan was smiling at something that Heather had told him. I wonder if Heather is telling Jordan what Meagan told her.
The superintendents prepared to walk out. "We'll perform our inspection now. Thank you, Mr. Sporman." Sean smiled as the two superintendents exited the room.
"Heather, would you like something to drink? I've got a Reflux 2000 portable replicator down here."
"Sure. I'll take another Mountain Dew." She said, sitting down in a chair.
"Computer, one twelve ounce can of Mountain Dew." It shimmered in the box-shaped replicator. Sean picked it up and handed it to Heather. Heather smiled. "Thank you."
"Your welcome." Sean replied as his combadge beeped. "Sporman here."
"This is Megan Harris. Um…something unusual is happening down here in the library."
"Me and Jordan should be there in a minute. Thank you and be careful."
"Ok." The signal ended. "Heather, take command. Me and Jordan have to go see what is wrong." Heather got up and sat in the big chair. Sean and Jordan exited the office.
"Sean, you yard boat." Jordan said. "What were you doing back there?" Sean gave him a puzzled look.
"With Heather!" He continued. "She said she would not go out with you!"
"Sure." Sean responded sarcastically, smiling. Jordan rolled his eyes.
Sean smiled as he saw a modified Son'a drone that he had replicated removed fallen debris from outside of the library. Inside, many volunteers cleaned up, most likely to get out of class.
Sean and Jordan met Megan at the side entrance to the library. "What's wrong?" Sean asked.
"Brooke and Sarah are fighting, along with another girl I don't know, and they are destroying the library." Sean opened the door. Immediately, a coke can went flying and crashed into the concrete path, shattering and sending coke everywhere. Fortunately, no one was wet since they were wearing personal shields. "Sean, does everyone wear personal shields?" Jordan asked.
Sean walked into the library, phaser in hand, as a chair smashed into a library window, breaking through it. It crashed into the drone, which exploded.
"Let's get to the office!" Sean exclaimed as the three began to run.
"Principals Log, Supplemental. The massive catfight continues as six girls are now involved. Mrs. Lindsay has unsuccessfully tried to stop it. The superintendent is attempting to do so now."
Heather, in the office with both Megan and Meghan, saw a red blinking light on one of the temporary computer panels. "Warning, unauthorized departure of Pittman One in progress." The computer warned as it showed the blimp, Pittman One, slowly rising. Heather tapped her combadge. "Sean, you there?"
"Yes. This is Sporman. Need something, Heather?"
"No, thanks." She smiled. "But, Pittman one is being stolen." Her smile went away.
"I'm on my way." Sean responded, ending the transmission.
Jeff McNeely laughed in triumph as he sat down in the command chair of Pittman One. "I finally have the blimp!" Suddenly, Sean's face popped up on a screen.
"Jeff! What are you doing with the blimp! Land it now!" Jeff pressed a button that turned the videophone off. He then looked around and saw computers that looked like the ones in Sean's office that he had installed on the blimp. "Computer, take the blimp over the stupid school."
"Unable to comply. Unknown order."
"Take the blimp over Hueytown High. Full Speed." He smiled as he did a 360 rotation in the chair. "Are there any weapons?"
"Yes, twelve Type III phaser emitters."
"Good. Charge the phasers!" He laughed once more.
Red lights flashed and several klaxons rang in the office of the high school. "Sean, didn't you say that thing had phasers?" Heather asked.
"Yes. Twelve modified Type III phaser rifles on setting twelve."
"I’m sure you can find a way to protect us." Meagan smiled and Jordan sighed, annoyed.
"Computer, would it be possible to rig the portable shields to form deflector shields to protect sections of the school?"
"Negative. Power output is insufficient." Sean's eyes widened when he realized there was nothing he could do.
"Sean, what about the runabout?" Heather inquired, as Sean saw the blimp from a window, just as the sun was cracking through a cloud.
"Pittman One is now in range of the selected target." The computer stated as Jeff laughed.
"Fire phasers!" Six beams of light burst from the starboard side of the gondola, impacting the main gym. The beams cut through the roof as if it were a stick of melting butter. Jeff could see a fan fall and shatter on the floor.
"Die, school!" He exclaimed as he ordered fire once more.
Sean heard pieces of the gym ceiling, spray-on insulation and all, hit the floor. He quickly pressed a button, which activated a link to the school's old intercom system. "Everyone, evacuation sequence! This is not a drill! Head out of the Oak exit!" The bell began to ring continuously. "Sporman to Hawking. Six to beam up!" As Sean was dematerializing, he could see the blimp opening fire once more, then something hit him and he blacked out.
Meagan Hall and Heather Allgood sat in separate seats in the cockpit on the runabout Hawking, waiting. Suddenly, Sean emerged from the back of the cockpit, a tear still in his starfleet uniform.
"They made it." Heather said. "But, the school was destroyed." Sean half expected her to jump up for joy, when a proximity indicator beeped. This day won't stop, will it!
"Computer, analyze target." Sean said, taking the tactical station console, which had all controls linked to it. "It is a Klingon Bird of Prey." Sean froze for several seconds and said nothing. "Computer, Red alert. Open hailing frequencies!" On a screen to Sean's side, the face of a Klingon popped up, and it didn't look too happy.
"I am Captain Sean Sporman of the Federation runabout Hawking. What are you doing in this century?" Sean asked cautiously, trying not to antagonize the Klingon.
"I am Turkret! Prepare to be destroyed!" He roared as the signal was cut off. "Computer, set course for Sol! Maximum warp!" He ordered as the runabout soared toward the sun.
"What are we doing!?" Heather yelled.
"Ever wanted to go to the future?" Sean smiled a grim half-smile.
"Computer, emergency plan 12-Temporal. Target- Mid 24th century!" The runabout soared around the sun, the Klingon warship still giving chase. Suddenly, they popped out of the other side. "Computer, send out a distress signal!" The computer beeped. "This is Sean Sporman of the runabout Hawking. We are under attack by a Klingon ship!" Sean then hoped again that the computer had correctly executed the maneuver. The computer beeped another proximity alert as both ships slipped to sub-warp. "Look at the display to your left! What does it say?" Heather looked at the panel. "USS Enterprise…"
Sean smiled with glee as phaser strikes hit the hostile craft. The beautiful Sovereign-class ship swooped down and fired several quantum torpedoes, which hit the craft, and it detonated. Of course, the Enterprise isn't the only beautiful thing around here…
And the walls of the runabout faded away…and Sean saw his familiar ivory-tinted ceiling. "Wow!" He exclaimed, still lying down. "What a dream!" He began to sit up to awake for his third day of command.
Sean walked into the vacant office of Hueytown High School at 7:17 A.M. He sat down in the 'Captain's Chair', situated between two new replicated control panels. He smiled, still unable to completely believe that he had possession of technology four hundred years ahead of what he was used to. He looked outside, at an overcast sky. According to James Spann, there was a risk of rain, but mainly to the north. The other 60% had lucked them out.
Heather Allgood, a beautiful young sophomore that was the 'second officer' entered the office with a smile. Sean handed her a Mountain Dew he had replicated earlier. When Heather smiled at him, he smiled nervously.
As Heather was about to say something, Jordan Reeves busted through the door. "Hi, all!" He said. Jordan was a fourteen-year old freshman that joked quite often. He and Sean had been friends since third grade.
"Greetings, Jordan." Sean rolled his eyes in jest. Once again, Heather and Jordan had worn normal clothes, but kept their starfleet-issue combadges on. "So, how are those chubby forty-sevens in the yard boats holding out with the ruffed buckets of chicken." Jordan chuckled, then Sean chuckled, and Jordan and Sean began to laugh.
Heather smiled and sighed. "Don't you two have any jokes we can understand?"
Sean stopped laughing to respond. "Well, there is that fans go wild joke." As Heather was about to respond, Sean saw Mrs. Lindsay and Mr. Holmes walking down the hall.
"So, how do you think Sean is doing?" Mr. Holmes asked to Mrs. Kay Lindsay, former principal of Hueytown High School. She still was there to assist, if the need came. Mostly, she stayed in the Oak office and patrolled the halls.
"Exceptionally well." She responded as they walked out of the main building and headed toward Oak. "He has dealt well with extreme situations."
"Well…" Mr. Holmes hesitated. "My son says he's not all there."
"Oh?" said Mrs. Lindsay as they turned to walk on another sidewalk, which led toward the back of Oak.
"Drayton says he is obsessed with Star Trek and taps his desk like it's a computer. He says that Sean says 'Well, I didn't lose my imagination in elementary school like most of the other people. It just grew and grew.' That leads me to his imaginary world, Spormanworld. I mean a ninth grader with an imaginary world?"
"I think it is a good sign, so does Mr. Swiney, most of the male students that go here are 'walking cliché's' as Sean likes to call them. They cuss, play rough, aren't very happy and don't like school and anything that requires work. He is different. Sean is creative, nice, hates rough sports, happy and upbeat, and is also an honor student." Mrs. Lindsay said as they entered the vacant Oak.
"True." said Mr. Holmes as they entered the office.
"I like the combadges anyway." Mrs. Lindsay smiled as she took her seat and then tapped her combadge. "Lindsay to Sporman."
"Sporman here. How are you doing today, Ma'am?" Mrs. Lindsay thought she saw Mr. Holmes roll his eyes.
"I am fine, thank you. I was just checking to see if everything was ready for the superintendent's visit."
"Yes. Weather conditions may not be optimal, but they will do. Also, I have a feeling it's going to be a great day."
"As do I, Lindsay out." Mrs. Lindsay smiled.
Sean saw many people enter the school through the office, teachers and students alike. "So, Sean; a couple of days ago you talked about a faculty vs. student game?" said Brooke Stephens who had entered the office seven minutes after Heather had arrived.
"I always enjoyed them at Pittman. I rooted for the faculty and everybody thought I was crazy, but they won!" Sean smiled at the memory.
"You always seem to know what’s right, Sean." said Megan. Sean smiled and blushed and Jordan shook his head and sighed.
The first electronic bell rang at 7:50 and Sean smiled. "What game should we have the faculty battle the students?"
"Basketball." blurted Jordan.
"Baseball." Derik Olvey suggested.
"Wrestling." John Barnes, who just walked in, said.
Sean was quiet for a moment. "Wait, I've got it! We can have a faculty vs. student Olympics, with multiple events!"
"Great idea, Sean. When can it start?" asked Heather.
"Well, a couple of the teachers like Mrs. Stevens were upset by yesterdays 'unneeded interruption', so we'll have it Friday."
Liz McGowen and Jonathan Reeves, good friends, walked toward Ivy. "So, how do you think the rest of this week will be?" asked Jonathan politely.
"Maybe if you keep your iris locker put away, it would go well." Liz said in jest. "No, seriously? It has been one crazy week. Monday there was Sean and his friends put in command of the school and Tuesday's interesting game. But, I think it will be good."
"Just remember you can't click your shoes three times and everything will be perfect." They both smiled as they entered Ivy.
Forty-seven seconds after the bell rang, an intentional move, Sean began the morning announcements. "Good morning, Hueytown Family. First, the moment of silence…"
"Now, here's your weather forecast! Today's weather will be patchy cloudiness with a 40% chance of rain. Expect highs in the low seventies and lows in the high forties. Today's pick city is New York, selected by Heather Allgood, should expect sunny skies with fifties for highs.
"Now, daily announcements. We will have the free day for the honorable students at 2:00 that was interrupted last Friday. And remember, any violations of the rules will be punished, Star Trek rules and have one cool day." Sean smiled as he put down the intercom microphone.
He then walked out of the hall and exited the office after waving at the group behind him.
Jordan turned toward Meagan. "You like him don't you?" Meagan just smiled.
Sean Sporman, Spormanworld Notebook Five in hand, walked down Pine. He was making sure no people were violating the rules. Even since the fourth grade, he was called a 'tattle-tale' and a 'goody-two-shoes'. He didn't care, though. Hey, the teachers thought it was a good thing! And, besides, someone had to do it.
His personal shield was charged and phaser ready. He saw a student, one he did not know, clobbering a locker. "That's attempted destruction of school property and skipping." The kid may have been one foot taller than Sean, but thanks to his shield and phaser, Sean was not in the least bit afraid. "I'm the principal. You'll have to come with me." The kid lunged toward Sean but when he came into contact with the personal shield, he was hurled backward by the energy. Sean pointed his phaser at him. "We can do this the easy way, or the hard way." Sean was smiling ear-to-ear.
The large kid, who Sean now recognized as Richard Burtrete, tried to punch Sean. Sean fired his phaser and Richard went down, stunned. "The first victory for the day." Sean proclaimed.
Jordan Reeves rolled his eyes yet again when he saw Meagan and Heather whispering excitingly to one another on the other side of the office. He thought he heard the name 'Sporman' and he just could not believe it.
Sean smiled as the police took the rule violated, now also guilty of assaulting a faculty member, to their car for transportation to Hueytown Juvenile. One of the officers had commented. "You know, the discipline hasn't been this good in years. But, since Mrs. Lindsay got here, it got better."
Just then, Jordan had an idea. "Hey, since we seem to be bored. Why not do some funny adlib speech situations? Sean can be in command."
"Why, Jordan." Sean said in mock surprise. "You actually want me in command of something instead of you! Ok." Sean moved two of the soft chairs to a mostly empty area with the help of two other people.
"Ok. Meagan, John." Sean smiled deviously as the two took their seats. "Alright, John, you like Meagan, but she likes someone else. You ask her out, but she refuses." Meagan smiled and John sat stonefaced.
"Hey, Meagan. You know--would you go out with me?"
"Like, no! John, you know I like that other guy." Meagan pushed him back.
"Ok." interrupted Sean. "Now, the person she likes is coming in." Sean could barely keep from laughing. "Me!" Meagan smiled, Jordan sighed in disbelief and Heather smiled as well. As Sean was about to join the speech, his combadge beeped. "Yes?" said Sean, still smiling.
"This is Mrs. Lindsay, there is a major disturbance in Oak! Chairs are flying everywhere!"
"Understood. We are on our way." He tapped his combadge off. "Heather, Meagan with me. Jordan monitor the situation from here."
"Why do I have to stay here?" Jordan asked.
Sean smiled. "I think you know that." Meagan and Heather both smiled as well. "Ready phasers and shields. Jordan, call red alert!" Sean and the two beautiful sophomores left the office while Jordan pressed a button on one of the temporary consoles. Lights flashed red and klaxons rang. "Here we go again." mumbled Jordan.
Mrs. Lindsay ducked as yet another chair flew and smashed into the wall above the Hueytown office. She wished she had one of Sean's shields and phasers. Meanwhile, Mister Holmes lay unconscious on the floor in front of the office from being hit by a chair. Sean, Meagan and Heather then walked in to the entrance closest to the office.
"Sean!" Mrs. Lindsay yelled. "You have to stop them, they've hurt Mister Holmes!"
He heard Mister Holmes groan and he grabbed the side of his head. "He's okay!" replied Sean. "Can you tell who started this madness?"
"No. First, I'm working in the office and then people are fighting, chairs are flying, and craziness is flying everywhere."
Craziness indeed. It reminded Sean of something he had seen in a Star Trek episode once. "Of course!" Sean exclaimed as he popped out his tricorder. He looked at the readings. "Yes, PSI2000 particles. I knew it! Sporman to Hawking, replicate the antidote to the PSI2000 virus in three hyposprays and beam it down to these coordinates." Several seconds later, three small hyposprays appeared next to Sean. He handed one to Heather and another to Megan. "Apply this to anyone's neck that has been affected and they'll stop."
The three split up, running in different directions. Apparently, only students that went into the hall were affected. Sean checked his watch or what Sean called temporal chronometric device and it showed that there was only three minutes until the next bell rang. "Heather, Meagan take care of this. I shall return shortly."
They both nodded in acknowledgement.
"Sporman to Hawking. One to beam up." Sean disappeared in a shimmering blue light.
"Principal's Log, Command Day Three. The disturbance in Oak was apparently caused a delayed release of PSI2000 particles. Through use of an emergency biofilter replicated from the Hawking, the particles were cleared from the atmosphere before first period ended. The superintendent has delayed his visit due to persisting rain over the area. We may have to move the free day to the gyms if it keeps raining…"
"So, the events can be three racing events, silver bullet, Newcomb, badminton, Skiball, pinball, bowling, speed socking, bopper ball races, walnut flinging, yard hockey, several N64 competitions and horse."
"Sounds cool, Sean--" John rudely interrupted Meagan. "Yeah! And no events that we really care about!"
"Principal's privilege." Sean smiled. John frowned and stormed out of the door. "So, what will the teams be?" asked Heather.
"Since this is going to be an Olympics game I've changed the teams from two to four and extended it over a four-day period. Thursday, we'll have the opening ceremonies, one of the races and--"
"The teams?" insisted Heather.
"Oh…yes. There is the Adult faculty composed of a certain group of the adult teachers and faculty. The Spormanworld team composed of us, the Randomites composed of random selection of students and the Noneonons who are our friends but not on the staff."
"Sounds like a great competition." said Jordan.
"So, how will you get the stuff you need for these events?" asked Heather.
"Well, I'll replicate the stuff we need for the events such as the Skiball machines and stuff. As I attempted to state earlier, I have a schedule made out as well." Sean prepared to stand up when he passed out.
Sean awoke and saw a ceiling he did not expect to see. It was the viewport ceiling on a bridge of a starfleet Galaxy-class starship. He looked down; his uniform had not changed any. Then, the turbolift doors swooshed open. Sean was staring at a mirror…
The other Sean, Sean B, had the exact same expression he did as the ship shook and another set of turbolift doors swished open. Both Sean A and Sean B did not know what to expect, but when they saw it, they both smiled.
"Hi, Sean." Meagan Hall said, apparently ignoring the fact that there were two of them. She blew Sean a kiss. He smiled and then turned around. Sean B was gone. Sean's left eyebrow arched, but his smile persisted. His mission was different now as he took the command chair. On the screen, he saw a Ferengi ship decloak. Ferengi fools with a cloak?!
Suddenly, the face of Rom popped on the screen. "Die, you P'taks!" Sean laughed out loud as Rom's out of character remark. Then, the mighty ship shook. "Shields are up sir." A male voice said.
"Evasive maneuvers locked in." A different voice smiled. Sean saw Lieutenant JG Geordi La Forge and Commander Data at the Ops and Helm consoles. "Fire, disable their engines. Show that Rom fool we rule." As the phasers made contact with the orange-colored hull, Sean was no longer on the bridge of the Enterprise…
The Emergency Medical Hologram sighed as he completed his medical scans of his patient. "He is in a state of REM sleep induced by the PSI2000 particles earlier interacting with P47 particles he received earlier, about twelve hours, by my estimates."
"Can you wake him?"
"I'm a doctor, not a anti-healer. He'll wake up on his own time, about ninety-four minutes by my estimates. If you'll excuse me, I've got to get back to the shuttle." The pseudo-human beamed back to a ship that was to built in more than three hundred years.
"Do you think June and her follies did this?" suggested Jordan.
"Knowing her, anything is possible." Heather replied.
Sean smiled so broadly he wondered if his face would start to hurt. He had just invented the Hypothetical Situation computer and the results were very interesting.
First, what if Sean had a Galaxy-class starship in this time period? He would no doubt gather his friends and family together and set out to construct Spormanworld…interesting indeed…
Second, what if the Inbiots did not exist in eighth grade? He was going out with Tiffany Kynard and he maintained giving weather reports ten times a week. Also, his acne was much less in severity and he was as popular as ever. Finally, he had a 94 average in pre-algebra!
Third, what if Heather actually liked Sean? Well, the obvious first. Heather was going out with Sean. But, onto the less obvious…Apparently, in this 'universe' since Heather was not going out with a member of a football player, she unknowing and unintentionally set a 'fad' for girls not to go out with them. So, the cheerleader force was next to zero. Therefore, though not that different from real life, Hueytown lost horribly in all games. And, another interesting tidbit, Jacob was a diehard auburn fan. Jordan would have laughed his head off!
Sean could do this all day…but just then he found himself awakening…
Mrs. Painter gasped in astonishment as Brandon Tucker stormed out the room after destroying his desk, chair and all. Apparently, when Mrs. Painter had complemented Sean on his higher grade and used one of Sean's jokes, Brandon had been pushed over the edge. April Agee suppressed a laugh.
Thankfully, Mr. Roller, a large teacher intercepted the rebellious teenager and escorted him to the office. Mrs. Painter had not expected such atypical behavior from an A student. Then, she remembered, Brandon had been exposed to the PSI2000 particles.
Sean Sporman walked up to ask Mrs. Lindsay, the principal of Hueytown High School, about the situation.
She turned around and answered his question. "They have captured Rachel Waters, Heather Allgood, and Megan Hall and are holding them hostage."
"Them as in the Inbiot Group?" Sean inquired.
"Yes." Sean then walked inside the room that they were being held in.
"Sean, you will not make it!" Mrs. Lindsay yelped.
"Oh, I will." Sean said, confidently. As Sean walked in he saw the inbiots restraining their hostages. At that, Sean pulled out his phaser and readied his force powers. About seven more of the Inbiot group stood around the lunch tables, either sitting or standing.
"Alright, Inbiots!" Sean said as he waved the three-inch long energy weapon at them. "I'm here, give it up! Just give back the cheerleaders and we just might let you go!"
"Never, fool! Attack him!" Three of the Inbiots began to run toward Sean, fists waving. Sean stunned them with his phaser and they fell to the floor, unconscious.
Just then, Holly Toidi jumped from the table and dived toward Sean. Sean waved his hand at him and he flew backwards and crashed into a Styrofoam box. "You can't rival Jedi powers!"
The ones not guarding the hostages in the Inbiot group walked slowly and surrounded Sean in all directions. Sean double back flipped out of his trap and set his phaser on wide stun. He fired and they all went down. There were only three of them left.
"Ok, Inbiots. Surrender now!" They grew scared and ran out of the alternate Lunchroom exit, only to be intercepted by three police officers.
Sean untied the ropes binding Rachel, Heather, and Megan. Rachel hugged him and said, "You're the best."
Outside, the sun came out…
Sean laughed as he saw one of the Inbiots fall on the floor. The inbiot, Holly Toidi, fell over his untied shoelace. Just then, Heather walked over and sat by Sean and Jordan.
"Greetings, Heather." Sean smiled and looked at Jordan who had no expression on his face at the moment. He then turned back toward Heather.
"Hi, Sean. How are you doing?" Jordan was now frowning, which made Sean almost giggle.
"I'm fine. And you?"
"Fine. By the way, I like your Spormanworld stuff. But, I have a question for you." Sean began to contemplate the possible questions. "Go ahead."
"Will you go out with me?" Jordan screamed with complete disbelief and Sean froze up. Holly Toidi gasped and Heather continued to smile.
"Um...uh…Sure." Sean then realized something. "Aren't you going out with someone?"
"Not anymore. You know all football players are dumb."
Jordan finally recovered enough to speak. He just couldn't believe that Heather would actually go out with him. "Alright, who paid you?"
Heather hit Jordan with a brush from her purse. "Ouchie!" Jordan yelped.
"Tell him, Heather!" Sean said with an ear-to-ear smile.
"Yeah, Jordan! It's Yard Boat!" Heather said, smacking him lightly once more with the hairbrush.
"Principal's Log, Supplemental. Apparently, Laurie Crain had exposed me to the p94 particles yesterday and had replicated the PSI2000 particles for timed release causing me to pass out and dream some crazy, but good dreams in the hope that I would not wake up. In fact, two of the dreams I had were the same daydreams I had last week. The second attempt at the 'Honorable student' free-day now commences."
Sean smiled as he walked with his friends toward the vacant and now unused baseball field. The students could play with the stuff Sean had replicated for the first Hueytown Olympics as it was now called. "Well, there lies a bacon of hope." Jordan said. Sean nearly fell in his laughing. But, both Meagan and Heather smiled.
"The Olympics will start tomorrow after a shortened third period. Thankfully, the superintendent thought it was a great idea. He's all for it. He'll come in Pittman One Monday to see it. So, what shall we play? N64? Skiball? I think Skiball was fun. It's a Showbiz classic."
"Huh?" Brooke Thompson, a new addition to the staff asked.
"Oh, yeah. Showbiz became Chucky Cheese's. Skiball was my favorite game there."
Heather whispered something to Jordan, who gasped. "You like…!?"
Sean turned around. "What is it?"
"I'll tell you in a minute." Jordan said. Meagan and Heather giggled and Brooke seemed confused. Sean and Jordan walked toward the nearest vacant Skiball table. On the first try, Sean threw it and it landed in the ten-point hole.
"Here comes victory!" Sean proclaimed as he rolled the ball harder this time. It popped up and landed in the fifty-point ring, then rolled in the hole. "Yes!"
"That's quite appropriate." Jordan said quietly.
"Why?" asked Sean.
"Because Meagan and Heather both like you." Sean looked up and smiled. These good days never end…

As day one of the Hueytown Olympics start…the dreaded snow craziness strikes…!

"Yes!"
