I cant stand "current" sitcoms.....up until Raymond the only "new" show I liked was The Simpsons. And then Everybody Loves Raymond came along with a great funny show with a great cast that the whole family can enjoy. Thanks Ray!

ELR and The Simpsons are 2 of the very few TV shows I currently watch. Most of the stuff that's on now is just plain garbage, IMHO.

This is very true. Most of the sitcoms from the 1990's were terrible except for Everybody Loves Raymond, what I can't believe is that it's been on since 1996. It was only late last year when it began rerunning in syndication that I discovered this gem.

I wouldn't say this was the only good sitcom of the 90's there were some others. This is the best Family Sitcom on the air, but I really wouldn't consider it to be in the same category as "The Brady Bunch" and "Family Ties". Its the most realistic family sitcom and the funniest.

I actually saw Ray Ramano perform in a comedy club before Everybody Loves Raymond came out.I knew THEN that he was a riot and his career would take off. He's very funny.
I think "Raymond" is a little overrated, but it is a good show.
As far as the new stuff out there, haven't you seen comedies like Scrubs, Undeclared, Bernie Mac, The Job...
and the new dramas Smallville, Enterprise, 24...
Embrace the newness....

I'll pass on embracing the new. Personally, the new stuff isn't worth my time. I would also like to specify that Everybody Loves Raymond is probably the best sitcom from the 1990's as well as today. However, there are other great sitcoms from the 90's like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Grace Under Fire and Home Improvement. Everybody Loves Raymond, if anything, is underated. I really never heard anything about the show until it began reruns in September.

I do think that Scrubs is a pretty good show, and so is Ed, but nothing that has come out these past 2-3 seasons has really caught my interest. There are some 90's sitcoms that I really love, including Wings, NewsRadio, The Simpsons, and a few others. Being a full-time college student, I don't even have much time to watch TV anyway.

That's not true, it is the second most popular sitcom. But Friends is the most popular sitcoms and tv show.

I agree with you TJL we should embrace new shows and not just stick to the old. You can't assume the new shows aren't good if you hardly ever watch them. :happyface
