"Free To Be ... You and Me" is the 1974 Emmy-winning special hosted by Marlo Thomas. The special features skits on life lessons performed by Marlo Thomas, Mel Brooks, Alan
Alda, Michael Jackson, Rita Coolidge, Harry Belafonte, Roberta Flack, Rosie Grier, Kris Kristoferson, Bobby Morse, Tommy Smothers, Cicely Tyson, and Dionne Warwick. The special came out of a project that Ms. Thomas started to create a book and record album to help children celebrate who they are and what they can become. You can catch the special at 8 p.m. on Friday August 24th, and again later that night at midnight. The special lasts one hour.

It would seem to that this type of show would get a greater children's audience on Nick than TV Land. Anyone else think it's odd for TV Land to sponsor this special given the nature of TV Land?

No not really. TV Land's aim is to get people who remember that special from his/her childhood. Much like the recent Electric Company and Sesame Street specials.
