When which TV star died, were you the saddest about?

Carroll O Conner's Death
Norman Fell's Death
Audra Lindley's Death
Robert Reed's Death
Lucille Ball's Death
Vivian Vance's Death
Dana Plato's Death [I consider the saddest]

Who's death was the saddest?

probably Dana Plato but I knew nothing about her when she died. But after watching the true hollywood story on her it makes ya sick that she did all that stuff.

I was quite saddened when Carrol died.
The day Norman died is the saddest of them all!I mean I was watching the news with my mother and he said "TV Star Norman Fell who potrayed Stanley Roper on the ABC sitcom 'Three's Company' died today"
He died in 1998.
Audra died in 1997.
Why didn't you put Mr. Belvedere?
He died Friday.
Where are the TV stars going?
Dieing all of a sudden.
Whitman Mayo who played Grady on Sanford and Son died recentley.
I saw Dana Plato on a TV talk show couple of weeks before she died. She was 34 years old and looked like a grandma.
Robert Reed died in 1992 along with "same-time" TV dad Bill Bixby.
I was raised knowing that Lucille died.Just like everybody born after 1977 was raised knowing Elvis was dead.Lucy's birthday by the way is tommorrow!
Lucille Ball August 6,1911-April 26,1989
Most people prolly don't remember when Vivian Vance died she was gone in 1979.
Why didn't you put Elizabeth Montgomery?Or Alan Hale?I was especially schocked when Elizabeth Montgomery died.I always loved Samantha from Bewitched. She was sooooooo funny! And soooooooo pretty.I was completly shcoked when Sandra Gould who played Gladys on the show died late last year. And when Rosemary DeCamp from The Partridge Family and That Girl died about 2 months ago.
Maybe NAN will pay tribute to Mr.Hewitt by playing a nite of Mr.Belvedere on Friday night. Also when I learned that my fave Gilligan castaway Natalie Schafer died. She died in 1994.And when I found out Aneta Coursaut who played Helen Crump on TAGS died in 1995.But the most saddest death of a TV star to me has to be when I found out Dan Rowan was dead and Flip Wilson too.Dan died in 1987 and Flip in 1998.I was born in '90 so I was overwhelmed with Dan's death.I guess I'm scaring you guys with all this talk about deaths. No wait the MOST SADDEST moment for me for ANY TV star was when Miss Arlene Francis died.Or Steve Allen. No I got it:THE MOST SADDEST TVSTAR DEATH IS THE DEATH OF GENE RAYBURN.HOST OF MATCH GAME.

What about Mary Frann? Now that was sad, she was so young.

By the way, Mrs. Howell died in 1991.

I'm sad for all of them, but esp. Audra Lindley. See seemed really nice on TC, and she seemed like she could have been someone's real grandmother on screen and off. When she died, almost no one cared. But when Norman died, he had a tribute on one channel.

When Madaline kahn died it was very sad, and i cried, i was very happy that CBS let COSBY do a special MAdline Kahn episode after she died.

Yeah Natalie was born in 1900 and died in 1991.But I could have sworn that was Alan Hale. Why didn't nobody mention Eva Gabor?I mean when I heard of Lisa Douglas's death I was so sad.And about Mary Frann:I knew she died but I forgot when.I can't beleive I forgot that.I think it was 1991 also though. And who can forget Ray Walston from last year? And Florence Halop and Selma Diamond. They were both on Night Court. It is weird because when Florence died in '85 they replaced her with Selma who died in '86.And what about Nicholas Colasanto?I know a LOT of TV stars who are dead. But if I list them all I'd fall asleep.

You know Audra was really a blonde?
I saw her on Celebrity Family Feud and her and the cast of "The Ropers" were on there.I saw the cast TC on there too.Three's Company kicked but for an entire hour. The won the whole thing!

I knew she was a blonde 'cuz in the CAKOOD book they show a picture of the cast and her wigless at the Peoples Choice Awards and a pciture of her from a reunion with Norman in 1996.

reading this i havent realized so many people i new on tv died. I guess ive only been around since 86, so i havent been around to long to actually know or realize when someone dies, i guess though, the saddest person for me would have to be Mary Frann. I was also sad when the blonde from Petticoat Junction died just last year. I only really find out on either access hollywood or at some award show like the Emmys or the Golden Globes. Just finding out Audra Lindsey and Normal Fell are gone as well makes me sad. I cant really say im sad that Dana Plato is dead. I liked her, but what she did with her life i dont like her for. When did Robert Reed died and how come the Bradys only lasted one season(i believe). I also have to mention that i was really sad to see that Walter Mathewa and Jack Lemmon are gone as well. I loved those two and the movies they did.

For me it has to be Dana Plato. I grew up on DS. She died way too young. It was a shame that she couldn't stay out of trouble. It sounds like she really did have a tragic life.

There are a lot of choices, but I'd go with Elizabeth Montgomery. She died when she was still relatively young, so it was unexpected.

Yur right because Biography magazine did a pictorial timeline for her and the latest was I think 1992 when she was 59 years old and she looked soooooo young!I mean she had black lipstick her hair didn't show a sight of grey and she was wearing a head band!I think it really was inexpected.I know the saddest death would be a death that didn't happen yet!MTM's death.or Don Knotts'.Not making seem like I want them to go but I would terribly cry for both even though they are both doing well for their ages.

For me, that would have to have been Steve Allen. Even though I am not that familiar with what he did as far as acting goes, I will remember Mr. Allen the most for having formed the Parents Television Council.

Besides Christopher Hewett, here's another recent death;

Lorenzo Music--best known as Carlton the Doorman on RHODA, and the voice of GARFIELD.

Speaking of UFS Cartoons, when Charles Schulz died, it was clearly a sign that the 20th Century was over.

And Phil Hartman's death didn't just screw up NewsRadio, it screwed up about 10% of television shows that were on the air at the time. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration, but you've got to admit he got into a lot of projects, and when he died, thousands of scripts, storylines and other projects had to be either re-written or scrapped.

McLean Stevenson from M*A*S*H. It's like he died twice:

1. In 1975, when Radar walked into the OR and announced, "....Lt. Col. Henry Blake's plane was shot down over the Sea of Japan....It spun in....There were no survivors."

2. In 1996, when Stevenson died for real.

Jack Lemmon

***even though I wasn't born until 1984, I would have to say it was sad when Elvis died in 1977****

Edited to say: I forgot to mention Dana Plato. It was sad reading about her being on Howard Stern and people called in to insult her. Ironic that she died the next day, I wonder what those people were thinking that called in on Howard Stern and insulted her and then she died the next day....

Also, doesn't anybody think its kind of odd that Jack Lemmon died so close to Walter Matthau's death. They were such close friends and both such wonderful actors.

I wasn't around when Lucille Ball died in 1989, but my mom really liked her and she told me about it, so probably most saddened by her death. You didn't put John Ritter on the list. I was really sad when he died.

The day that John Ritter died was probably one of the saddest days of my life. Everybody tells me that I take the whole John Ritter thing to far, but I really don't care what they say. I love him so much, and when he died I was in total shock. I spent the whole day crying my eyes out. I still can't believe that he is really gone. I see this lively person on Three's Company, and other shows and movies and I just can't believe that he is no longer with us. He will always be with me in my heart. I will always love him forever.

I love and miss you John.

John Ritter and Dana Plato were both pretty sad, I was about ten when Lucy died and I wasn't really familiar with her work at the time so I didn't understand why everyone made such a big deal when it happened, though I would've been upset had I been older and found out.

Not a sit-com star, but he had many comical moments on BONANZA: big Dan
Blocker's ("Hoss Cartwright") death had a big impact on both my mother and me. I was also very saddened by the deaths of George Reeves, Freddie Prinze (so young), Michael Landon, and Bill Bixby -- all cut down still in their prime.

Older stars I miss include Bob Hope, John Wayne, Roy Rogers, Buffalo Bob
Smith (HOWDY DOODY), Lucy, Steve Allen, Milton Berle, Jackie Gleason, Bob
Denver, Don Adams, Groucho Marx, Danny Thomas, Fred Gwynne, the list
goes on and on. But at least they lived long, full lives. (Well, Fred Gwynne
wasn't that old, only in his mid-sixties.)

For me, it was definitely Josh Evan Ryans on Passions. I remember watching the show that day and his character died (because the actor was going into surgery and needed the time off the show) and then when I read that night that the actor died in surgery the very same day, I lost it. It was so incredibly sad.

I think the sadest ones I heard that died are:

John Ritter-He was healthy as far as everyone knew, it was a total shock when he died.

Lucille Ball- She was in the hospital and was expected to make a fully recovery, when she died eveyone was also shocked.

Dana Plato's was sad because she left a young son behind, his love wasn't enough to make her quit the drugs.

Freddie Prinze Sr.-His death was shocking because he was young and had a hit sitcom on the air. He had a baby he would never see grow up.
