Ally McBeal def. needs to go. I used to watch this show and thought it was very funny, but the last few seasons haven't been that great.

First of all Frasier is a GREAT sitcom!

I think it is time for Friends to end.. next year. I love it but it's time.

Friends and Frasier are both past their prime.

Frasier stinks!I can't stand any show that's on the big 5 except MITM.They all need to lay to rest and have reruns non stop!

Here are the shows which need to be put out of their misery and cancelled:

"Ally McBeal" (like the original poster suggested)
"Big Brother II"
"Boston Public"
"The Family Guy"
"Frasier" (also like the original poster suggested)
"Friends"
"Just Shoot Me"
"The Simpsons"
"WWF Smackdown!" (and everything else wrestling, for that matter)
"The X Files"

The Simpsons, and as much as I hate to admit it, The X-Files.

WHAT THE HELL??? FAMILY GUY???

Family Guy is without a doubt the BEST animated show on television today. Regardless of how much FOX tries to kill it (being put up against Drew Carey, Friends, and a slew of other "hot" sitcoms as well as being pushed in to a new time slot every other week), it still thrives in the ratings. Well, maybe "Thrive" is too strong a word... more like it just doesn't have bad enough ratings to get cancelled.

But shows that D need to realize that they aren't funny any more include The Simpsons, Frasier, and Just Shoot Me. All three of these where great sitcoms when they first came on the air, but are now facing the 5-year rule. Have I not explained the 5-year rule? Check out my next post...

Sitcoms are all bound by what I like to call the 5-year rule (AKA "5th Season Blues"). Pretty much any show (Happy Days, Brady Bunch, and Cheers, for purposes of this demonstration) are incredibly good when they first come out. Everybody loves them and talks about them at work, and everyone is clamoring for more. The second and possibly third seasons will usually follow the same formula as the first season, trying to keep hold of the "magic" that captivated audiences. But then, during the 4th season, things start getting all freaky. The writers run out of ideas based on that original formula. Suddenly, Fonzie is part owner of Al's Restaurant, Cousin Oliver moves in with the family, and Sam sells the bar to someone who puts Rebecca Howe in charge of things.

I'm tellin' ya... it's that 5th season that makes or breaks a "clasic" show. If it is still around after the 5th season, people start talking. "Oh, it sucks"..."It's just not funny any more"..."I only watch it becuase nothing else is on". And then, sooner or later, the show finally gets cancelled.

The following shows should stay:

The Simpsons (although an end date must be seriously considered)
Futurama
King of the Hill

The following shows must go:

Friends (never funny)

South Park (never funny, sometimes offensive)

Will and Grace ("I'm gay, give me an Emmy even though I'm totally mediocre!")

Everybody Loves Raymond (misnomer)

Malcolm in the Middle (if they gave awards for most sitcoms plagiarized in 22 minutes, this would win hands down; I could forgive them if this show were funny)

Titus (named after Shakespeare's least popular play, Titus Andronicus)

That 70s Show (anachronisms and lame writing synergized)

ER (aka St. Elsewhere lite)

Saturday Night Live (it's more like that old man in "Monty Python & the Holy Grail" who was put out in the cart of dead people despite his cries of "I'm not dead, I feel fine!")

Shows in danger:

NYPD Blue (unless they get rid of Mark-Paul Goselaar; I hold a grudge against everyone from Saved by the Bell)

Rugrats (a good show, but the past season has been quite uneven)

I think they should disband the TV networks. Once "The Simpsons" are gone, I'll be cutting the cable and only watching stuff I've got on tape or DVD. Maybe I'll move to Europe, or at the very least, catch up on more reading.

baseball games: baseball on TV has forced lots of games to be played at night instead of the daytime, and therefore young children have to stay up very late to catch the end of the game, unlike in the old days when games were played during the day.

What needs to go are the Reality shows, not wrestling. Shows like Survivor, big Brother, temptation Island, and so on.
