I'm thinking either "Taxi" (Danny Devito, Andy Kaufman, Tony Danza, Christopher Lloyd, Marilu Henner, Judd Hirsch); "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (Mary Tyler Moore, Ed Asner, Cloris Leachman, Betty White, Gavin McLeod, Ted Knight, Valerie Harper) or a short lived sitcom called "Sara" (Geena Davis, Bill Maher, Bronson Pinchot, Alfre Woodard, Matthew Lawrence). Anybody else have any ideas ?

Either "Head of the Class" or "The Facts of Life"

St. Elsewhere (Denzel Washington, David Morse has made it very well as a character actor, Bruce Greenwood [Double Jeopardy], Howie Mandel, etc...)

Taxi (Danny DeVito, Tony Danza, Judd Hirsh, Christopher Lloyd)

Maude (Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, Conrad Bain, Esther Rolle)

Flying Nun (Sally Field and the lady who plays Rosario on Will & Grace)

Andy Griffith (Andy Griffith, Ron Howard, Don Knotts, Jim Nabors)

those that I can think of offhand

Excellent topic. I'm going to have to disagree with The Facts of Life, as most of the cast hasn't done anything noteworthy since. (Sorry, one cast member landing a role in a hit series does not make up for the two that have pretty much disappeared and the remaining one who is in too many movies of the week).

Maude
Mary Tyler Moore
Andy Griffith
Soap
Dick Van Dyke
Taxi

There were a few others, but I think that the above had the biggest collective success.

Happy Days gave us a few good stars.

Henry Winkler

Well, I don't think they acheived the MOST success, but the L&S cast has had a lot. Penny Marshall became a director (A League of Their Own, Big, Preacher's Wife, Awakenings, Jumpin' Jack Flash, Renesseince Man). Michael McKean was in a lot of movies (This is Spinal Tap, Clue, DARYL, Best in Show, etc.). David Lander became a baseball scout and I believe he's a spokesperson for MS, but I'm not sure. Cindy Williams was in a lot of movies (Bingo, The Conversation, etc.). And Garry Marshall wasn't a cast member but he was the creator, he became a director (Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, Overboar, etc.)

"Well, Laverne is sort of childish" -Shirley

"Childish? Childish? Coming from a grown woman who throws tea parties for her stuffed cat!" -Laverne

"Well at least I don't sew L's on everything I wear!" -Shirley

"Well that would be pretty stupid considering your name's Shirley!" -Laverne

i am sorry but other than Robin Givens which Head of the class cast members have done anything? and those two guys on that nickelodeon show do not count! and as for FActs of life, Kim Fields was on Living Single but hasn't been heard of since FOX canceled it back in 1997. and Nancy Mckeon has made a lot of MADE FOR tv movies but htat was mostly in the 80's and 90's and Can't hurry love was canceled in 1995 after only one season, although the division just got renewed. and niethier lisa, mindy or charlotte have done much since the show left the air so i wouldn't say fol cast members are the most sucessful.

Why doesn't it count?I mean Dan Fischman and that other guy have amounted to alot! Why doesn't Nickelodeon count?I mean Keanan and Kel is one of the top rated shows! And Kim Fields is also over there with "Taina".I think that NICK does count simply because a lot of people watch it.So I ask again why doesn't it count?

THough they aren't the most sucessful, The "THree's Company" cast had: Suzanne Somers ("She's the Sheriff", "Step By Step", created the butt and thigh master), John Ritter ("Clifford", "Heart's a Fire", "Hooperman"), Richard Kline ("Inside Swartz"), and Don Knotts

ok, you got me, i guess it does count, but um.. that still doesn't make either of those casts the most succesful after thier show ended, it still doesn't account for the fact that other than nancy mckeon and kim fields, you haven;t heard from any of the other facts cast members, and that the rest of the head cast has all but dissapeared.

All in the Family (most of the actors were pretty unknown before the series.
Mary tyler moore (even though she was already famous) the rest of the cast became stars)

I guess you really have to define what you define success as before we can really definitively answer this question. If you asked what cast had the most success as television actors after their series ended (or they left), I guess you'd have to go with "Mary Tyler Moore":

Ed Asner ("Lou Grant")
Valerie Harper ("Rhoda", "Valerie")
Cloris Leachman ("Phyllis", "The Facts of Life")
Gavin MacLeod ("The Love Boat")
John Amos ("Good Times")
Ted Knight ("Too Close For Comfort")
Betty White ("The Golden Girls")
