I just booked my 2012 Vacation today. :) Every year I choose somewhere differant to visit, this year it was Texas. For next year the Land of Enchantment, New Mexico has drawn the straw. On Friday, May 18, 2012 I will depart Orlando, Florida for Alberquerque, New Mexico. On Saturday I will visit their local Amusement Park, Uncle Cliff's Familyland and add their Two Roller Coasters to my "Collection". Sunday I'll do some sightseeing, and there will be a special treat to enjoy. Shortly before sunset the Moon will align itself between the Earth and the Sun, resulting in an Annular Solar Eclipse. The Centerline of this Eclipse will pass through Alberquerque, the "Main Event" will last about 6 minutes. Since over 90% of the Sun will be covered as the sun sets Twilight should be unusual to say the least. Then on Monday, May 21 I will return to Florida. Short, but sweet! :D
If anyone else has made Vacation Plans for next year feel free to post.

If you can swing it, check out southeastern parts of New Mexico.
Cloud Croft, White sands. I used to live around there, That place is cool looking.

I'll have to save it for another time. Money is TIGHT, and I had to SCROUNGE to get the funds for this trip. (It's not every day the centerline of an Eclipse is in your area, the last one in the US was in 1994 (I saw it). :D Four days is all I can afford, and two of those days are for travel. I'll be at the Amusement Park on Saturday, and Sunday I'll be in the Alberquerque area. I MIGHT take a Side Trip to Taos, then go to Sandia Peak to view the Eclipse. As I said, it will be short but sweet. As for the other ares, I'll just have to "Save them for seed".

I touched base with the Alburquerque Astronomy Club, and they are going to keep me posted on where they are going to observe the eclipse. (Naturally it will depend on the Weather. They are prepared to go as far east as Lubbock, Texas (Where the eclipse will end) or as far west as Canyon De Chelly National Monument if Necessary. If the weather is good for the Albuquerque Area they set up at their Observatory, and hold a Star Party that evening. Too bad I can't bring along my 20" Dobsonian Telescope (It's kind of hard to take it aboard the plane as hand baggage!).
