We never ever see Wilson’s face. This isn’t so much a plot problem as with the other shows just leaves me wondering what the significance of this was. I’m not totally sure what this artistic choice accomplished. It's not like it was some big star behind the fence, so I really don't get it......

I think it was just a gimmick. Something to get viewers attention. And it worked! We're talking about it! It's really just a different twist on the unseen character. I.E. Maris Crane(Frasier), Vera Peterson (Cheers), Carlton the doorman(Rhoda) etc.

IIRC we got to see his full face in the finale.

I caught his entire face in certain episodes by a accident

By accident? How did you manage, Solomon?

He moved the wrong way sometimes or didn't turn around fast enough and I would see his face

I think it was stupid and annoying. It got old halfway into the first season.
