Personally I look back on this past year and think how sucky it was to be moo. But then again, I think some people had a wonderful 2001. Well I wrote a little thingy about it and here it is to share:

January brought me my first spout with bronchitis, and I rang in the year with a suicidal friend and Diet Coke. I got my heart broken, then dealt with the accident with my knee from December, and before I knew it I was on crutches by February...seeing a new doctor. I started dying my hair, and have kept it red ever since.

March and April flew by and I lost 2 friends-one to greed and one to selfishness, and had a friend come visit me. Finally workers comp started paying me, and I could pay off debts, and before I knew it May came around and friends started leaving college and going home.

June came and I went to the Tony Awards on crutches, and 2 days later was flying home to California to spend time with friends and family. I remembered why I moved away in the first place, got my heart broken again, spent over $1,000 and came back to NYC in July to get my MRI done and have some schmuck tell me to hold still for 45 minutes when I can't even hold my knee straight well for more than 5. When I got the results in August, I went to seek a 2nd opinion and got a new doctor...and more painkillers.

September reared its ugly head and my friends came to visit me just in time to see the WTC collapse and have to take a train home instead of flying American Airlines to California. I went to visit a friend in rochester, got a little tiny birthday cake, went home and ended up with a boyfriend 2 days before my birthday---which I spent alone.

October brought the promise of Halloween and all my friends were having more fun than me, as usual, and I spent the holiday on crutches still and felt a sickness creeping in that I had kept since about mid-September...being tired was constant through November when I went to someone else's family function for Thanksgiving, not knowing a soul but my friend all that well.

The end of November brought my boyfriend and another friend (with her boyfriend) out to see me in NYC, and the weekend was a total bust with few highlights. (At least she had fun.) About one week later in December, my boyfriend realized he had issues and couldn't stay with me, so that ended. 10 days after that I was at his place, where I am writing this now, and though it was awkward, I spent yet another holiday with another family I didn't know well.

Now it's New Years' Eve and I'm probably not doing anything but staring at my crutches wondering when my knee torment will end, feeling tired and sick off and on still, and I look back on the year. Would I do anything different? Of course, but knowing I cannot makes me remember to learn from life and move on.

May 2002 be a better year than 2001, not only for me, but for all...because it COULD BE WORSE...(even when it seems it is).

Happy New Year all!

Let me tell you all about my terrible year!!
I'm only listing the months where something bad happened.

January: I lost my first pet, Bub, my first kitty :(. He ran away when my dad left the garage open. I don't know what happened but he never returned to our house :( :( :( .

March: A year since my parents split up, my best friend moved to LA.

May: My parents divorce became final and trust me things have never been the same!

August: Me and my bf, Ruben, split up and had a terrible fight! Then to top it off school started and I started High School. I didn't know hardly anyone and the first week was AWFUL, but things got better.

September: America was attacked by terrorists and the USA has never been the same since then. I Got back with my bf :) and we've been together since.

-------------------------------

Well those are some highlights of my awful year! But some good did come out of it. I hope this year will be better!

Thanks for sharing that with us,Gracie.Your right, it always can be a lot worse. The important thing is that you press on... because one day, things will be better.

Don't become a cynic now, Gracie! Feel better.

May we all find the strenth to face the coming battles of war and life. Peace!

Happy New Year!

This year has been the worst year of my life!!!

March: I got a C on my country report in school which got my grade down to a B.

May: One of my only friends moved away and my last report card had to B in it and so I spent the next two weeks depressed.

June: Still really depressed about my grades and having nightmares about starting school again.

August: Started the 7th grade the worst grade I have been in even worse than 5th grade which was also terrible and the person who was supposed to be my best friend found other friends who hate me.

September: The whole thing with the terrorists pretty much ruined that month not mention that I was still depressed.I was also sick and had to miss 4 days of school.

October: I got a B in english and I got depressed about my grades once again.

December: My friend and I got into another fight so right now I don't have any friends at all at least not at school.I'm also really worried about my grades as usual.

So right now I'm hoping that 2002 will be better and that I won't get any B's on my report card.

2001 wasn't the worst year, but certainly wasn't my best.

January- Recovering from a shattered annkle that happend tht previous October
Febuary- starting to get sick of my school and the people in it, otherwise it was finr.
March- My friend hung herself
April- made a new weird friend
May- My ex cheated with that same friend...some friends they were. When I found out, I wasn't to pleased. I got suspended for 3 days and had to go to some in school group sh!t were we had to disguss our problem. Had to deal with a new crackheaded teacher.
June- Finals were a killer, but went better than I thought. Finally, school let out.
July- The best month I had in a while. Met some new people had fun and enjoyed my summer.
August- Was supposed to go on vacation for two weeks, but only went for 2 or 3 days. Started dreeding going back to school.
September-School was better than I thought, but they still screwed up my schedule, then the attacks happened.
October and November- Grades started slipping, parents started trippin' and had fun.
December- Had a f*cked up birthday and Christmas just wasn't Christmas.

January- 1 year since my grandmother died. Almost got hit by car.

February- My mum had to have big surgery

March- Bike got stolen, first fish died

April- Had a very cracked up Easter

May- My Birthday. Let's not go there

June- Almost got stuck under the dock at Lake George. Got hit with the curses, aka Mono, laryngitus, and strep.

July- Still have the 3 curses. Get my arm hit with fire work

August- Still have 3 curses. Slam into tree on rollerblades down at Cape Cod. Depression really starts to hit me again

September- Depression tempts

October- Curses have yet to leave me. Almost poison myself by mistake with nail polish remover

November- Lost a friend Roxanna from medical stuff, lost another friend Lana to suicide. Almost get hit by car. Again.

December- very cracked up Christmas.

A long year has gone by, and you know what? I STILL HAVE MONO!

An old saying I remember:

"I felt bad for the man with no shoes, til I met the man with no feet."

Things could ALWAYS be worse folks -- SO try to see the good in what you have experienced.

What doesnt kill you, makes you stronger.

The year 2001 was pretty much OK for me but it certainly wasn't the best. The two things that upsetted me the most in 2001 was the September 11 terriosts attacks and my dog's death which happened on Christmas Day . . little over a week ago. I'm still getting over my dog's death. I hate death . . . It could be so sad at times.

I love old sayings!! They allow us to get a better picture of life in general.

Yeah yeah yeah, and the grass is always greener on the other side...your point?

Sorry, don't mean to be rude, but I am SO sick of old sayings especially the ones I get about "soon you'll be out of this a much wiser person" and crap like that. When you're in pain and suffering, do you like to hear "things can only get better" and that? Thought not.

On the other hand, I do agree to look to the good things as best as you can. I originally posted this hoping people would think they had a better year than I did, not for a big pity party. Well that's what it turned into. My suffering made everyone down about themselves too...ugh.

How bout this for an old saying? "Misery loves company"

LOL....yeah.....I guess u r rite about that....Misery does enjoy company! Still, you SHOULD try to be positive....count your blessings. There is ALWAYS someone somewhere worse off than we are.

Blessing #1 - I haven't killed myself.
Blessing #2 - I haven't killed anyone else.
Blessing #3 - I haven't torched worker's comp yet, so they still pay me for my injury.

That about does it for now. :D

Funny thing, you mentioning Garth. When I first saw this thread Garth's song The Dance ran through my head.

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have chanced it all

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance

I just love that song :crying:
