A man jumped over the barricades at the "Today" show plaza on Tuesday while the show was broadcasting live.
The incident occurred at around 8 AM. Willie Geist, who was filling in for Matt Lauer, was speaking when, all of a sudden, someone started shouting behind him. (Al Roker, also in the plaza, later said he shouted that he was "God's gift to music.") The man then jumped the barricade separating the crowd from the "Today" team. On the video, Meredith Vieira can clearly be heard saying "Jesus!" as the camera cuts away. Ann Curry quickly picked up the broadcast inside the "Today" studio.
After the incident, Vieira, Roker and Geist discussed what had happened.
"We're certainly awake now," Vieira said.

A crazed "Today" show fan jumped a barrier Tuesday, giving the show's hosts quite a wake up call on live TV.
Meredith Vieira, Al Roker and Willie Geist were standing outside at Rockefeller Plaza when the guy "hurled" himself over the barricade, according to Vieira.
The incident occurred as a film clip was on the screen, so viewers heard the man - and Vieira scream "Oh Jesus!" - but didn't see the action.
Producers at the top-rated NBC breakfast show then quickly cut to Ann Curry inside at the newsdesk while security guards and cops nabbed the guy.
"We're certainly awake now," Vieira said later in the show.
Roker said the guy screamed "God's gift to music."
Roker told Vieira and Geist, who was in for the vacationing Matt Lauer, that he looked to them to see how they reacted to the jumper.
"Well - yeah, I was gone," Vieira said.
"Were very lucky we have great security that's on hand, also the New York Police Department, so they were able to get him down on the ground very quickly," Vieira added.

Roker said he looked around after the man emerged and that Vieira and Geist had run off.
"I was gone. ... We are lucky we have security and the police department," said Vieira.
Police sources said cops arrested a man, identified only as a 33-year-old from Brooklyn, shortly after the incident.
No one was injured in the fracas.

NEW YORK — A man who briefly interrupted "Today" show personalities at the NBC show's outdoor studio is being evaluated for emotional problems.
New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said Tuesday that it's not clear whether the man, who was not identified, will face charges. He jumped a barricade that kept people away from Meredith Vieira, Al Roker and guest host Willie Geist as they stood outside and talked on the air.
Roker said the man said something to the effect of being God's gift to music. "Today" security and New York City police officers quickly subdued him.
News anchor Ann Curry, who was inside at the time, wrote on Twitter that everyone at the show was OK.
