When I was in elementary school we started at 9 AM and got out at 3:45. I like going from 7:40 AM to 2:45 PM much better.

Wow - I didn't realise school started so early in America! Most schools over here start at 9am - my old school started at 8.55am and finished at 4.40pm.
I work now and I have to be at the office for 9am, which means I need to leave the house at 8.15. The office closes at 5pm.

Me too! I would rather wake up early and be out of school and home by 3 than getting home at like 4:45, like I did in middle school!!

That's my work schedule from January to June. Sept - Jan, Our boss lets us leave at 4:50 when we're not in session. Come January, we'll leave at 5 of 5, Which is still enough time for everyone to get to our buses. In the summer we'll probably get to leave at 4 on Fridays if we take a half hour lunch 2 days of the week to make up for it.

Ok, this is a really old thread....but since I missed it the first time around I'll reply to it now.

Everyday of school for me is just a little bit different, but in general it starts at 8 AM and lets out at 2:50 PM. Sometimes we go from 8-3:50, sometimes 8-4:50, sometimes 9-3:50, etc. And sometimes we have half days, either getting out early or starting late, depending on what letter of the alphabet your last name begins with. When we have half days I usually start late, which annoys me, because I can never find a parking spot, and since my body is used to waking up early anyway I usually don't sleep in, and I would rather have my afternoon rather than my morning off. We have 1 hour and 10 minutes for lunch (though in reality it's more like an hour by the time everyone leaves anatomy lab), and 10 minute breaks between classes (though in reality that's shorter because teachers almost always run over and then all sorts of people make announcements, etc.).

Well, I go to school on the weekdays and work on the weekend. We start school at 8:25am and get out at 3:45pm(omg its horrible). I go to work at 9:30am and leave at 6:30pm, unless they feel they dont need me all day and then I only have to work a 4 or 5 hour shift.

Well for my school. We're supposed to be in school @ 7:00 every morning but the first class inst until 7:20 and then school gets out @ 1:52 and I get home @ 2:25-2:30.....

I've heard quite a few of you talking about half days. Do they have those often? I swear at the schools I went to, they never EVER had half days. They hardly canceled school either. I remember one time they did have a half day and a cancellation in the same day. I was in Kindergarten at the time and it snowed enough to close the school for the rest of the day. Too bad it wasn't a full day, but now everybody knows about my half day history. Just wondering and sorry if I got off topic.

The official start time is 9:00 but some of my people work 8:30 to 4:30 so I have to be in around 8:00 or so which means I have to get up at 6:30 :( . Then because of politics, I have to stay until 6:00 or later :( . Boy I wish I was back in school. I loved half days. In grade school, Every Wednesday was a half day. We didn't have them as much once I started 5th grade and hardly ever in middle and High school

In grade school: I went from 8-3 mon, tues, thurs. friday.
and got out at 1 on Wednesdays. I loved it in the springtime
especially.

Middle School and Jr. High: 8-3 everyday, unless we had bad weather, teacher conferences.

High School: 7:45-1:54 everyday with the exception of bad weather or power outages. (that happened a couple of times.)

On A days i have to go the full day, 8:00-3:05 PM, but on B days i don't have afternoon classes, so i go from 8:00-11:17 and get home about 11:30

My work hours... 6:00-2:30. Yes, It took a while to get used to getting up at 5:15 AM. Luckily, it's only a 12-15 minute drive to work, so I leave as late as possible. ;-)

Back in the early to mid '90s, I sometimes worked the second shift- hours varied, usually was 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. I liked first (day) shift much better.

Well this is unfair... not only do I seem to start earlier than most of you, but I'm there longer too...

School starts for me at 7:15 (my bus picks me up at roughly 6:30), and ends at 2:24. On the extremely rare occassion (like, once a week, if that) that I ride the bus home, I get home at around 3, or a little after. But I have to stay at school till 4 on Mondays for Mock Trial and private clarinet lessons. And I have to stay til 5 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for marching band. But next week is the last band week.

Is anyone else at school for longer than 7 hours? Or is my school just really screwed up? Because most of the other schools around my town are only in session for six and a half.

Okay, I go for the bus stop at 7:30am. We get to my school around 7:50am. Then, we just roam the halls, or chat in the cafeteria with friends. We have to be in our 1st hour class when the bell rings at 8:15am. The day drags on for what seems like forever. We finally get out at 3:00pm. Sux, don't it?

Well when I was in high school we went from 7:55AM-2:55PM, so that's 7 hours.

I never oncee had a half day until I got to college (unless you count Kindergarten :D ). Never had 'em in 1-12. A few people at my high school did, but they were in special programs where they got out at a half day, but then they had to go to a job. It was like a job-skills training type of program.

In college of course I could basically pick my own schedule, leading to half days and even entire days off! :D Currently, I have half days because the computer and microscope labs only have enough seats for half the class, so when we have lab days, the class is split into two groups, and generally one group has lab in the morning and one in the afternoon, though sometimes they have lab on different days entirely. It's screwy. :crazy:
