Well, to be fair, the show didn't show Mike interacting with too many people other than Archie, Edith and Gloria and I don't think he ever got mad at Edith. I always thought Mike fairly obviously loved Edith and even though he might have thought she was a bit of a 'dingbat' like Archie did, he was very gentle with her and never made her feel like she was stupid.
He did express frustration with George Jefferson when he and Archie were fighting, and also at Lionel for his mock stereotype act with Archie, but I guess I never saw him express full on rage against anyone but Archie or Gloria (and for the record, I think it's obvious that Mike came to love Archie too).

How about the episode "Games People Play", when he got mad at Lionel, The Lorenzos and Edith because Mike felt they were "criticizing" him. Not to mention the "Gloria Gets Fired" episode where Mike was angry at the head of personell dept. of Kresslers for firing Gloria for being pregnant.

Yeah in that episode Games People Play Mike did nothing but shout and scream like a moron because they all dared to speak the truth about the simple minded loser! He even shouted at Edith. He was a lazy, loud mouthed know it all and they called him on it, although they were alot nicer about it then I would have been.

I'll bet you that in the episode "Games People Play",Gloria was probably mortified and angry at Mike for talking to Edith like that, and Archie would have REALLY given Mike what for.

Well if you watched the end of the episode, Edith opened Mike's eyes on why he was so mad and why Archie was always so mad at him. He ended up hugging Archie and saying "I understand...", for Heaven's sake.
I don't think Lear ever intended for either Mike or Archie to be seen as totally heroic or villainous, just two flawed people, just like the rest of us, with strengths and weaknesses.
