We got about 10 little ones. It's certainly not like the old days, but it was nice having a few.

Just three but they came at the same time, so my bell only rang once.

Dont know the exact number but we had a few. One thing I noticed is that there is not as many kids trick or treating when I was growing up.

8

I bought 90 full sized candy bars and only 8 people came. None of them were all that young either.

This was my first year living where I am, so I didn't know what to expect, so I bought more than I needed. Can't complain too much. I'm eating a candy bar right now, lol.

We got about 30. The kids were mostly older. I love the little ones. We had a little girl come up to the door and her mother said she was almost two. She was just adorable in her pirate costume.

We got 11 or 12 bags of candy,so 10? kids.We ran out of candy near the curfew of the kids, around 7:30 or 8 pm. I think the flint kids came over to Grand Blanc to trick-or-treat.

I haven't handed out candy since I moved. I used to love doing it but in my new hometown they have trick or treat on Sunday afternoons and that just doesn't work out for me, timewise. I don't think I'd get very many anyway, but I do wish they'd move it to night time as it was always something I kind of looked forward to. It's also harder when you are single because you don't have as much time to appreciate costumes when you are also handing out the candy.

In my old hometown, it started to get where kids would come in huge bunches and by the time you'd get candy to all their bags, they'd be gone. It was always nice to be able to chat just a bit with them, but as time has gone by there doesn't seem to be as much of that. Used to know most of the kids' parents, too, but a lot of kids are from out of town now. Drives me crazy when older kids show up with no costume wanting candy, too, or when parents haul out kids who can barely walk (and know what the holiday is).

I spent $30.00 on candy and I got 200 kids. The candy all went and I had to run around the house looking for hard candies.

I didn't get any, which is good, because I didn't buy any. My doctor told me the other week that I did have Type 2 diabetes (fortunately controllable at my level with plenty of diet changes, exercise, and weight loss, without the need for constant insulin shots or extensive treatment). For me to have Halloween candy in my house would be the same as a rehab patient being handed the keys to the liquor cabinet.

I have really cut down on my intake of sweets over the past year and a half,
thankfully, but I don't think I really need to put myself under that kind of temptation. I have been going to a fitness center daily and cut back on my food portions (especially with carbs, etc.) and have been seeing quite a bit of weight dropping!!

I am curious if you can consume sugar-free chocolate/candy?

Glad you are losing weight; I would like to lose about 10 lbs. :D

I think I can, though sometimes I have a piece of candy without going too crazy on it. I haven't heard anything that I couldn't at least have one piece. I've been really good about anything with carbs. On Tuesday I'll find out more about my diet when I go for diabetes training.

It's funny, I've been losing weight, but at the same time, I've been gaining it because my constant working out appears to be developing muscle mass!!

That is true; muscles do weigh quite a bit.

Glad you can have candy sometimes. :)

Sorry to hear you have Diabetes ABlairican Pie. I've been pre-diabetic for a few years now, got a horrible thirst last May and thought I had become diabetic myself, but turned to still be pre. Now I take care of myself and VERY GLAD to hear that you are too. Losing weight, exercise and changing your diet will make a huge positive difference. My glucose stabilized & went down a tiny bit (its now 6.0) and my blood pressure is normal now. And yes you are right, SWEETS and any refined carbs are the worst things to eat. Good luck - sounds like you're on the right track - and you will love being thinner - I've just lost 30 lbs and have much more energy.

GREAT NEWS!!!

I went up today to my doctor's clinic for diabetes training, where I was to learn how to use a glucometer, and the nurse told me that they found they were a little premature in determining that I had Type 2 diabetes. They found that that my test results indicated that I had abnormally high blood glucose levels, but that there were other things in the readings that indicated that I did NOT have it. It seems that I may be still borderline, but since the test was taken weeks ago, it most likely has improved due to changes in my diet and exercise. I can't exactly recall what she said that indicated that my test results weren't as bad as previously thought, but I am still committed to my weight loss and fitness goals. Not exactly going back to the fried-chicken-potato-salad-beer diet (even though she said I could have those things every once in a while in moderate amounts). I think she said that I had some physical issues with my body not properly processing blood glucose or insulin at the time (however she said it), but that I did not officially have diabetes. Of course it's still something to watch out for, but I am well on the right track to reducing the risk.
