Mary Tyler Moore Show had a pretty funny first episode, but the best 1st episode was for Diff'rent Strokes. It was just very good.

I like the first episode of Three's Company, entitled "Man About the House". When Jack says his last name he nearly trips in the bathtub!

Jack: You know what your trouble is, Chrissy? You're a compulsive eater!
Chrissy: I am not! I'm just always hungry.

I do not like Three's Company but I gotta admit it's got a good first episode.

It isn't a sitcom, but I thought Oddyssey had a good first episode. For sitcoms, I thought Fresh Prince had a good first episode, then I think the show went kind of crazy. Although it's a funny show, I think the writers went a little overboard with the whole plot of the show in general after the first season finished.
