Last Comic Standing judge Greg Giraldo has been laid low by a not-so-funny situation.

The comedian was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NY Saturday, after reportedly suffering an accidental drug overdose, according to the New York Post.

The funnyman, known for his appearances on Comedy Central roasts and the Howard Stern Show, collapsed in his New Jersey hotel room.

That's awful. He's such a hilarious and talented comedian. I hope he makes it through this.

Oh my gosh!!!! He also played Gregory Sierra's son in the short-lived 1996 sitcom Common Law. I sure hope and pray that Mr. Giraldo pulls through - he did some funny stuff on Conan O'Brien's Late Night as well.

There's nothing extensive yet, every site basically has the same thing.

Comic Greg Giraldo passed away today, September 29, at the age of 44. The comic was hospitalized five days earlier after an overdose of prescription medication.

The website TMZ reports that the actor's representative says the overdose was accidental. A source close to the comic told TMZ, "Greg passed away today at the hospital in New Brunswick as a result of an accidental overdose. His family was by his side."

Giraldo was perhaps best known for his work as a regular panelist on Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, as well as his work on Comedy Central roasts of celebs ranging from Pamela Anderson to Flavor Flav.

A public memorial service is planned.

Greg Giraldo, Last Comic Standing Judge, is Dead
The Comic Apparently Overdosed Saturday Night in a Hotel Room and was Taken to a Hospital

(CBS/ AP) TMZ reported Wednesday that comedian Greg Giraldo is dead from an apparent overdose of prescription medication. The overdose was not a suicide attempt, according to reports.

The "Last Comic Standing" judge was taken to a New Jersey hospital after he was found unconscious in his hotel room.

The Home News Tribune of East Brunswick reported Monday that police said Giraldo suffered a drug overdose.

New Brunswick police Lt. J.T. Miller on Tuesday told The Associated Press he would not disclose the circumstances.

Miller said officers found Giraldo in his room at the Hyatt New Brunswick on Saturday night. Miller said officers performed CPR and the comic was resuscitated.

Giraldo was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, which would not release his condition.

The telephone number listed for his management company was disconnected.

His booking agent's office said they were not commenting.

The Comedy Central roasts will never be the same. Comedians that I follow on Twitter have been tweeting condolence messages all day, saying what a great guy he was.

I hope Comedy Central will show some roasts and his own stand up comedy specials in a big memorial weekend or something.

What a fitting tribute that would be. I hope it happens.
