Any one take plavix? I had two small strokes and in place of the first medication I was told to try Plavix. I was on Aggrenox for 2 1/2 years but found it gave me headaches. So I asked the doctor for something else. Both cost a fortune. Over $450.00 for a 3 month supply. I look and feel fine but the doctors don't me to have a serious stroke.
Thanks

I'm sorry to hear about your strokes. My father suffered a stroke, so I've seen it up close and personal. It's awful, and my heart goes out to you. I don't know anything about Plavix, but if the doctors want you to take it, I would heed their advice. The commercials for it kind of freak me out, how they show the computerized illustration of the clots going through the arteries, and how they get clogged. I was under the impression that Plavix was to be used with another medication, as added protection. Perhaps you can call the pharmaceutical company who makes Plavix. They often give medication or help defray the cost, to people who can't afford it. Good luck and keep us updated.

Thanks Janice.
Actually I had were TIAs, small small strokes but with having a tia they don't want me to have more debiltating stroke. So the pills are a help to prevent a bigger stroke. And I wouldn't want a stroke. Been on the plavix 3 days now and unless it's the air today, I seem to feel tired. I will get a good night sleep. I work two jobs.

Plavix is a blood thinner and is usually prescribed to heart patients to control the flow of blood to the heart. It can effect the liver and users should have a blood test every six mos.

The New England Journal of Medicine(the bible for the health industry) about a year ago reported that Plavix does no more then a baby aspirin for thinning the blood and sales have plummeted..

It has been reported that daily use of the aspirin will cut heart attacks almost in half.

Obviously, check with your Doctor.

Well Coffeecup is back. Gee aspirin. Now I feel I am truely over medicated.
I don;t know. Don't want a stroke. Have had high pressure since I was a child. Now is so low. 110-65. The doctor says that is great. Unless you get 3 different diagnosis and pay all 3 How would one know what to do. Well as of now been on Plavix a week and half and so far one side effect is bruising. The side effect slip said that could happen. My legs look like I have gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson. I did bump my legs a few times this week. With the bruisy legs I may go back to what I had. I only wanted to rule out what causing my head pain. Oh I am age 52. As far as I know my heart is in great shape.
